Well...
The book was long. Let's just throw that out there first. It was way too long. I mean, the story and the plot were intriguing, but it was just too drawn out. Everything in the book, including all of Rand's philosophies and character descriptions could have fit into a much smaller book by still getting the same point across.
Other than that, it was a pretty good story. The characters were somewhat real, except for perhaps Ellsworth Toohey. I really don't know anyone in the real world who could just start blurting out a perfectly derived speech completely composed of vocab words. But whatever, I suppose she had to get out her philosophy through someone.
The ideas of objectivism and individualism are portrayed very strong throughout the book, and that is the reason I like it. It's good to read something that challenges your brain every once in a while, and that is what this book does.
