An Actual Entertaining Take On Shad!
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.
If you know McPhee...this is classic writing for him. It is a blend of field research (read into that--standing on a shore flipping lures for shad) with historical and technical background.
The book explores everything from the biology of the shad to its historical role in American culture, and it does so without bogging down...which is quite an accomplishment. The book is never overly-technical, but informative enough fill pretty much anyone's head with a lot of information they never knew before.
If you're a fisherman, American history buff, fan of McPhee or any of the above I would recommend this book to you.
