This book looks at american history through the eyes of some key founding fathers. It starts with a duel and ends with the almost simulteneous deaths of jefferson and adam. It's key theme was about the disagreement of the founders after the revolutionary war of what america should be. Federalism vs republican, strong federal govt(president) vs a weaker one. The fights between the key figures is also illuminated. Adams and Jefferson after years of being very close friends did not talk to each other for years after Adam's presidency. The book was written in a storytelling way, which I really enjoyed. A plus.

I bought a book a few weeks ago and it was delivered very quickly and it came in good condition. This is a book that I needed to get for one of my classes so I needed to get it quickly and it arrived a few days after I ordered it and it looked brand new.

Good Book, interesting, but drawn out.
Review created: 08/12/09

Founding Brothers examines six events in the founding of the United States that illustrates the principles upon which the nation was founded, or drastically changed history. Ellis's style is graceful, but each chapter has large amounts of jargon that has little to do with what is discussed. Overall recommended.

  Interesting stories

The stories in this book are great. The story of "The Duel" between Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton is one of my favorites in this book. The relationship between Adams and Jefferson is really entertaining and talks about friendships ups and downs.
