Forty Licks by Rolling Stones (The) (CD, Oct-2002, 2 Discs, Virgin Records USA)

I looked for this cd for a long time before winning an auction. fantastic cd, spans most of a very long prolific career. All the best cuts.

It has all the Stones major hit songs. It is awesome.! I can't recommend this collection enough if you are truly a fan, there is nothing not to like.

I've alwasy been ambivilent about the Stones. But I needed some of their music for my library.

At first I downloaded "Gimme Shelter" from the BestBuy Rhapsdy's site. But it sucked really bad - not only the slow initialization, but after I dumped it because they wanted to charge me an outrageous monthly fee I found that all of the songs I downloaded would no longer play since I cancelled my subscription. I never knew what a rip off BestBuy was.

SO I needed Shelter. I searched on eBay and found this CD which includes Gimme Shelter, along with a number of excellent Rolling Stones tunes.

I suggest you search on eBay for your copy of this CD. You'll be glad you did.

I love this CD. It has forty of the stones hits. I like the fact that it comes in a single disc holder for 2 CD's.

As a DJ, I look for complete collections. Having the most hits on hand is essential to my business and The Rolling Stones put out nothing but hits. The CD Forty Licks is a compilation of their most beloved studio recordings. An essential tool in any classic rock lovers toolbox. From the 1960's 'Mother's Little Helper' and 'Ruby Tuesday' on Disc 1, to the rockin' hits 'Gimme Shelter' 'Miss You' and 'Start Me Up' on Disc 2, this two disc collection spans forty hits (thus the title) that are sure to please. Worth twice the list price, any U.S. release found on ebay is going to be the deal of the day.

This is a 2 cd set w/ all their best songs, they came out w/.It is a great buy and highly recommended cd for any one who likes the stones!!!

I've been listening to the old Stones tunes on Project Playlist for a while, but can't get much volume out of my computer speakers. I searched out this CD and decided to buy it used, something I usually would never do. I have players with storage for 700 and once I put 1 in, it stays and I never have to handle it again. The listing said it was in good condition and because I could save over 75%, I decided to buy it used. Not only was it in good condition, it was in pristine condition and has all the songs I wanted and more on 2 CD's. I guess for somebody as picky as me it can be a crap shoot buying used, as one man's "good" may not be the same as anothers. It comes down to who you can trust and I have now bought from this seller again, knowing he's not going to send me trash. This was an excellent buy! Kudos to mainst.music! kenny

I had to dock this score severely for forgetting to put in my favorite Stones song "Monkey Man". I mean, they picked something like "Angie" over that? COME ON! Regardless this is a good compliation, even if CD one is a bit better than CD 2. This is a good investment.

Already knew the Sones were the best. I was very happy that album while album was listed as used it both looked and played great Big D

I purchased this CD because I like the Rolling Stones. I am enjoying the CD. The experience was very positive. My CD arrived intact and on time and I am enjoying the music. What else can I say?

The best album that I own, from possibly the greatest rock band of all time! I definately think this is an essential item too any Rolling Stones fan, enjoy!

Beautiful songs from long ago. Great singing from the stones of their familiar music. Looked for a long time.

I was one of those people who didn't get into the Rolling Stones until later in life. I liked Satifaction and Start Me Up, but didn't know too much more about their music. After buying this CD, a whole new world was opened to me. They are for sure in my top 5 of best bands of all-time. And currently they are my favorite (I go back and forth between them, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin, sorry no Beatles, but I do like them). Sympathy For The Devil, Shattered, Beast of Burden, Wild Horses, the list goes on. The playing is superb, and the songwriting and longevity is unmatched. With 40 great songs, you can't go wrong. Since buying this 2 CD set, I've started buying their studio and live albums. It'll take me awhile, but it'll be worth it when I have them all. There are a few popular songs that aren't on this collection (most noteworthy to me: She's So Cold off of Emotional Rescue), but that's nitpicking. For the price and the product, this is a great deal.

All I can say here is I really like the music. I think Mick is one UGLY dude, & don't have a clue as to why all these gorgeous women want to hook up with him.
