Jesse James Dupree's passion and fire for real rock 'n' roll sets him apart from his hair-swinging brethren. He and his bandmates in Jackyl achieved success by touring every waking moment and employing an old school work ethic. Jesse branches out on FOOT FETISH, where he progresses by stepping back to roots rock: think The Black Crowes on steroids. FETISH is a hip album for the turn of the millenium, yet it's the furthest thing from politically correct. It's a searing slab of southern fried rock. "Mainline" is about the world's unhealthy addiction to the web. "Losing My Mind" is Jesse's tale of living the wild life, and giving a big middle finger to all who just don't get it. "Second Chance" is a rocking ballad featuring Jesse's top form vocal delivery and the delectable licks of guitarist John Hayes. "I Gotcha," a Joe Tex cover, is a funkified party tune that Jesse grooved to as a kid, while his take on Sly's "Higher" kicks hard and powerful without going too over the top. FOOT FETISH is an honest, balls-to-the-wall rock album that doesn't look too deep for an answer.
