Album Notes
Personnel: Peter Case (vocals, 6- & 12-string acoustic guitars, harmonica); Andrew Williams (acoustic guitar, banjo, harmonium, glockenspiel, background vocals); Greg Leisz (electric, gut-string, lap steel & pedal steel guitars, dobro, banjo, mandolin); David Perales (violin); Gabe Witcher (fiddle); Joe Sublette, Darrel Leonard (horns); David Jackson (acoustic bass); Sandy Chila (drums); Don Heffington (percussion).
Peter Case's FLYING SAUCER BLUES is yet another of the former power-popper's largely acoustic, folky solo records. Produced by longtime T-Bone Burnett associate Andrew Williams--son of easy listening god Andy Williams and half of the country-folk duo the Williams Brothers--FLYING SAUCER BLUES sets Case's literate, story-like songs in intimate arrangements heavy on banjo, dobro, harmonium and pedal steel.
"Paradise Etc." starts the album on a breezily cynical note, but things turn more serious on tender love songs such as "Lost in Your Eyes" and "This Could Be the One." Like most of Peter Case's albums, FLYING SAUCER BLUES is difficult to categorize--too folky for alt country, too pop for folk--but listening renders categories superfluous.

Editorial Reviews
...A collection of well-crafted songs; all of the pieces seem to be here. The playing and songs are top-drawer; the voice is simply...nice...
No Depression (05/01/2000)

...A spare, leathery and almost entirely acoustic sound that relies more on song structure than on fancy delivery....Like the workingman's blues of Woody Guthrie...
