Flutes de Pan des Andes by Los Calchakis (CD, Jan-1993, Arion)

My dad purchased a vinyl of this group in the early 70's. Ever since then I have always wanted to collect and or find the music of this group. Its rare to find this group and if you do it can be kind of pricy-so I was lucky to have found a brand new CD on Ebay. The pan flute is beautiful, I close my eyes and it takes me back to the early days of my father, and how he would enjoy this relaxing sound. Sometimes, it can remind me of the Native American sound but it has a distinct sound all its own. Although perhaps not as well known as some other groups who have preserved Andean folkloric music, Los Calchakis nonetheless have a unique style that is easily recognized by the cognoscenti. The breadth of the different styles that they play, as well as their mastery of the traditional instruments, is unlike anyone else. If you truly have an interest in Andean music, you will be duly impressed. I highly recommend this CD as well as any of their other (hard to find) music. You will be transported into an ancient, peaceful and spiritual world. Enjoy! Disfrutelo!!
