A Guide For Stitchery and Fabric Crafts
Review created: 10/03/06(updated 10/03/06)
This book really inspires me, despite the fact that it has the low production value typical of craft books from the 1970's. There is just a lot of great inspirational reference material in the book. My copy is really well worn; I refer to it often.
Contents include:
Preface
The Origin & Cultivation of Flowers
The Lyrical Approach
The Stylized Flower
Realism & Stylisation
The Rose
The Iris
Interpreting The Flower
Floral Design in Dyed & Printed Fabrics
Folk Art Forms & Themes
The Fabric of Contemporary Design
Bibliography
There are other prettier, trendier books available, but to me this one is an old well-loved favorite. I wouldn't give up my copy! If you are interested in owning a library of needlework reference books, I think this would be a good addition to it.
