Album Notes New-wave synth-popsters A Flock of Seagulls became synonymous with the early-'80s space-pop movement (Gary Numan, Missing Persons, the Buggles), which ushered in the dawn of MTV. Relying heavily on synthesizers and extravagant hairstyles, Flock dressed up its simple love songs with airtight hooks and pseudo-futuristic imagery ("Space Age Love Song"). This debut effort spawned three radio ready-singles, "Space Age Love Song," "Telecommunications" (by far, the band's catchiest piece of gravity-defying flotsam), and the slightly paranoid-sounding "I Ran." And while A Flock of Seagulls were more likely at the start of the 21st century to be found on VH1's "Where Are They Now?" series than on FM radio, these songs did insinuate themselves into the public's circuitry.
