Movie Description In 1970, Flip Wilson would win over audiences to become the first African-American to host a hugely successful variety show. This collection of several episodes of Wilson's Emmy Award-winning show finds the funnyman doing what he does best: entertaining people and making them laugh. While Wilson wowed audiences with his hilarious role-playing skills (including the unforgettable characterizations of Geraldine Jones, Reverend Leroy, Sonny, and Freddie Johnson), he managed to hold his own with heavyweight celebrities such as Bill Cosby, Don Rickles, Bobby Darin, Tim Conway, Redd Foxx, Ray Charles, Big Bird, and many more. Beginning with the Sept. 17, 1970, pilot, this DVD release contains the first four episodes, as well as a special bonus fifth episode, featuring Lucille Ball and the Osmonds. THE FLIP WILSON SHOW remains one of television's most historic and entertaining spectacles.
