Not LoTR, but 'Flight' soars as high in the 2nd Season

New Zealand conquered the world in cinematic terms with Peter Jackson's 'Lord of the Rings'. Then came 'Flight of the Conchords'...
When I encountered 'Flight of the Conchords' in its first season, I wasn't certain quite what to make of it. What was it? It was almost musical comedy but not quite. Undoubtedly clever and hilarious, it did not fit comfortably into any 'genre'. The humour can be outrageous or it can be sly. Every type of music is explored by this talented pair and every form of humour is adopted with bold assurance.
'Flight of the Conchords' is, in fact, unique, and I became thoroughly addicted to the show. When the 2nd season was released, I could not wait to own it. One of the hallmarks of great comedy is its continuing appeal after countless viewings. 'Flight of the Conchords' is great comedy. In some cases, only the first season of a series is worth keeping but in the case of 'Flight of the Conchords', the second season was as marvelous as the first. I only hope that the return of the Conchords to New Zealand is a temporary setback and that a third season will follow... somehow!
And by the way, 'Eagle vs. Shark', also starring Jemaine Clement, is worth the price of admission as well as a wonderful, off-beat comedy.
