Flash Gordon (VHS, 1997)

i bought it for my brother who is mentally handicapped. he loves to watch movies. we just cant get him to switch over to dvds

always loved this movie,even though i am not a jets fan but go flash go!great story for sci-fi love them quarter backs!

I disliked nothing about the movie, It was as good as I thought when I was a kid. I got it so my kids could see a great 90s B movie. Although most think it is sorta corny, It had a cult following and Iam glad I found it on Ebay, because I cant think of where else to find it.

I decided to purchase this movie in VHS format because I have found DVD players to be relatively unreliable as they age. This is one of my favorite movies and I couldn't see myself without a copy in case my DVD player went kaput... this movie was done with the 1930's in mind. People mistake it for corny, but they miss the mark. The props, costumes, script and even the actors were meticulously picked to bring across the mindset prevalent at the time. This is a true sci-fi classic with the best soundtrack ever done. If you like the good-guy-hero-comic-book genre of movie, this is a keeper.

I have loved this movie since I watched it with my daughter when it was on cable - probably in 1983 or later. My daughter, who was around 7 to 9 years old at the time liked Flash and the music. My sister, who is 11 years younger than I am, watched this movie many, many times in the theater with her boyfriend at the time. She was in her 20's. I liked a lot of things about the movie and, since I have now watched the video recently (I ended up buying 3 VHS copies to be sure I had a good one but they were all good), I love the costumes, the story, the writing and the music. This is a great movie and made way back when they weren't really using computer graphics like they do now. I bought the soundtrack on 8-track (yes, 8-track), audio cassette and LP vinyl record back then and I finally bought it on a CD recently.

The best actor is Max von Sydow playing Ming the Merciless (he has also played Jesus Christ). What a wonderful and versatile actor.

Although the VHS version is Full Screen and doesn't have any extras, it is worth buying but I want the Wide Screen DVD - some day I will get a copy. It would be nice if "they" came out with a new release DVD with extras so we wouldn't have to pay upwards of $60 to $100 for a copy of a 1980 movie!

I grew up with movie! We used to fight over who got to play Flash Gordon! Sam Jones is a very cheesey actor but plays this part perfectly! I decided to buy it because as of late it has been very hard to find in my neck of the woods so to speak! What can I say it has always been one of my favorite movies and I jumped at the chance to buy it!

This is an excellent Sci-Fi movie. It could be considered a cult classic. The soundtrack is by QUEEN. This movie has it all, beautiful women, Star Wars-like-characters/creatures, an evil emperor, birdmen, and a star football player from earth whose name is Flash.
