The Five Love Languages of Teenagers by Gary Chapman (2001, Paperback)

I bought this book after reading The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman. Because of how his first book hit home about relationships between husbands and wives, I thought I would read the second book to try to understand what my 14 yr. old is going through. It's such a different world than when I was a teen that the way I grew up with just doesn't seem to apply to him - technology is different and what most people my age went through (in my tax bracket anyway) hasn't exactly produced all that many 'healthy' outlooks on life.
I found both books to be extremely insightful. I wish I had read the original book before getting married - or at least in the early years. I truly believe his first book could have saved my marriage, had my husband read it also. Now I want to do all I can to make sure my son understands that what his father did was neither mine nor my son's fault and that, no matter what, he is loved by both of us. This book addresses many of the issues of divorce and single parenting that is so prevalent in today's world. I found that by learning to recognize my son's 'love language' I can get through to him on a level he relates to.

After reading this book, I could identify the love languages of many of the teens in which I work. The book is insightful and useful. It's not 100% to each person, but it's a great place to get an idea why teens do what they do.
