Shortly after becoming one of rock & roll's first true sensations, Elvis Presley began starring in movies (in addition to touring the world and making studio albums). While many of his movies have unfortunately not fared well over the years, especially his later ones from the 60's, his earlier movies contained soundtrack songs that are some of Elvis's best-ever tracks. 1988's ESSENTIAL ELVIS: THE FIRST MOVIES, is an exhaustive 27-track compilation of his best soundtrack songs from the early years. It also contains many unreleased versions of familiar tracks and outtakes.
You don't have to be familiar with the movies to fully enjoy such great compositions as the ballad "Love Me Tender," or the playful pop cuts "Teddy Bear," "Let Me," "Poor Boy," and "We're Gonna Move." Serious Elvis fans will enjoy previously unreleased versions of "Jailhouse Rock," "Loving You," "Mean Woman Blues," "Baby I Don't Care," and "Treat Me Nice," among others.
