A Dog Gone Good Movie

When looking for a film for my daughter's sixth birthday, the wife and I decided to take a chance on Firehouse Dog. It looked like your standard cheap kid's flick and we didn't have our expectations set very high.
Needless to say, we were very surprised and delighted to find a fun and well-put together family film.
The film centers around Rexxx, a top-notch Hollywood action star who happens to be a dog. He is at the top of his game and has everything a dog could want... including a wig. After a stun gone wrong, Rexxx winds up the mascot of a sad-sack firehouse. He meets Shane (played wonderfully by Josh Hutcherson) and after some initial dislike, the two grow a strong bond and help each other "find themselves".
Overall, the film is pretty good. What I really like about the film is that it had something for everyone. Action, romance, humor, drama... all the pieces are there. Every member of the cast gives 100% and it shows. While this film is no "Finding Nemo", it is still a decent little film with a lot of heart.
As for my daughter's review, the six year old loved it. My four year old really loved it and was so into it that she did not need to take a bathroom break and was a little upset during some of the more intense parts of the film.
Bottom line: It's like Air Bud, but much better. Grab it and enjoy it!
