Album Notes Though the singing duo of Chandra and Leigh Watson have released several earlier albums on their own, it was their collaboration with Rilo Kiley lead singer Jenny Lewis on her solo album, RABBIT FUR COAT, that brought the twins' alt-country sensibility to the fore. FIRE SONGS, the duo's first album since RABBIT FUR COAT, continues their trademark blend of traditional country, 1970s style singer-songwriter pop, and atmospheric indie rock. A remarkable narcotic cover of the Cure's "Just Like Heaven" is a standout, but songs like the haunting ballad "Fall" and the slinky, R&B-tinged "Map To Where You Are" are equally fine. FIRE SONGS is available as a digital download, a standard CD, and a vinyl LP.
Editorial Reviews Chandra and Leigh Watson each possess a smoky voice, but their harmonies are more than the sum of their parts, so closely intertwined that they become indistinguishable and all the more powerful. Paste
