Finding Forrester (DVD, 2001)

I thought this was an excellent movie. Very good acting, good story an I would watch it again. I recommend this movie to everyone!

This is a drama that makes you wonder who's finding who. Connery does a great job. A look at city life and the dreams and life of a young man who wants to be a writer. Great great movie

It was a movie that left you with a good feeling about the people and society. It gives you hope. There were two lead characters in this movie and neither out did the other. It was very balanced and just left you feeling good.

I love this movie. The main character goes from being a tentative writer to finding his own voice through his connection with the reclusive David Forrester. I loved Sean Connery as the grizzled older guy. He still has an endearing young quality, especially when he finally breaks out of his self-imposed confinement and rides the bicycle practically no-handed down the streets of the city to save the day for his friend. It was very uplifting.

I don't watch movies a whole lot, and when I do, I don't want it to be a waste of my time. The first 15 minutes or so, of this movie was not really for me - the rap music and all. I was about to click the off button, when it got interesting. Then I was caught. The character of Forrester and Jamal were quite compelling. I was very affected by it that I dreamed about it that night. It was so unusual but very believable. The development of the characters, the storyline, and dialogue were just so good. After watching it, I had to get my own copy. Excellent movie worth watching.

This is a great Sean Connery movie. If you're a fan of the great Scot, this is a movie to see. Also, Rob Brown's debut performance before hitting it big in Take the Lead opposite of Antonio Banderas, is great. This is a movie that touches the heart and makes you think. Highly recommended to be viewed at least once in one's life.

Excellent acting by newcomer Robert Brown, the star power of Connery and Abraham, and a slightly different take on the stock Hollywood success story rescue what could have been just another feel-good sports-type movie clone with a gruff mentor/prodigy mentee base.

Love the story line and wanted my 13 year-old grandson to watch this outstanding movie. Hope it impresses him to excell more in his school work.

I have taught inner city education for 20 years and I first showed this to my 6th graders this spring(there is not any sex or violece, just some very strong language and therefore the PG 13 rating). My kids loved this film and many not only related, but cried. It is an excellent teaching tool as the themes are friendship, loyalty, peer pressure, passion etc. etc. I would highly recommend this film to educators of grade 6 and up!

I absolutely love this movie and i recommend it for everyone to see. I can constantly watch this movie over and over without it ever getting old.

This is one of my all-time favorite movies. It is very inspiring and could give hope to anyone. If you like Good Will Hunting or Dead Poet's Society, you will love this movie. A must see!

I decided to buy it because I had seen it in the theatre and thought of it was a film that exemplified that in each of us, there is talent, and we should approach that talent with no hesitations and no reservations like Rob Brown's character did in the movie. Sean Connery was a pure artist (exemplifying a great deal of common sense and direction for his new found protege' unlike a lot or today's artists, and was a wonderful catalyst for Brown's character. It was a great movie giving the message that everyone has hope and as long as you have the guts not to be afraid of failure, you can push your talent to unlimited prospectives.

I needed to watch this movie for a school project. I started watching it in short clips on (I think) uTube. The final chapter didn't have any audio. I really enjoyed the movie and it was at the part where Jamal gets a letter (don't want to say anymore and spoil it for you). I really wanted to hear what the letter said, so I went to eBay and found the DVD.

A story about a friendship between mentor and student. Excellent acting by many in cast. Sean Connery fan since Island of Dr. No etal. The student AND the mentor-to-be are actually drawn to one another after initial shaky contact.

Excellent Movie. Strong performances by both main characters. I bought it because It was recommended by a Editor Friend.

This movie should have gotten 4 stars ratings from the critics. It seemed to just be released and then faded. Sean Connery stars as a recluse novel writer, and his male lead is excellent. I heard somewhere that this was Rob Brown's first movie (the co-star). This movie is a must-see for anyone who is a Sean Connery fan, or for anyone who roots for the triumph of the human spirit.
