Synopsis A charming little shop is very much off the beaten track, but loaded with the most astonishing toys. The staff seems to be comprised of elves, and a little girl seeking a present for her baby brother can't seem to get anyone's attention. An enormously fat man in a white beard hurriedly shoves every single toy in the store into his sack and abruptly walks out, leaving the surprised girl to wonder what she'll do about her brother's gift. "Not to worry, sometimes the best presents find us," she's informed. Downcast, she wanders outside to suddenly find the perfect stuffed animal literally falling from the sky. Santa's flung her gift down from his sleigh. Memorable full-color illustrations of the darkly foreboding city streets and bright, warm toy shop accompany the text.
A young girl wanders through the snow on Christmas Eve, looking for a gift for a very special someone. She happens upon a glowing toy shop, but before she can select a present, a mysterious old gentleman scoops up everything in the store.
