Final Gifts by Maggie Callana, Patricia Kelley (1993)
We just lost my husband's brother to cancer, and this book was invaluable in the insights it gave us. We received it just a couple of weeks before he died, and left it at his home for any caregivers to read while they were caring for him. Everyone was so impressed with the openness, simplicity, and compassion with which this book was written. It told us how to interpret conversations, actions, and other communications, which helped him not become frustrated from our ignorance or misinterpretations of what he was trying to tell us. We got this book on the recommendation of someone who had gone through the dying process with a family member, and would highly recommend it to anyone who has a friend or family member dying of a terminal illness.
