Final Fantasy 6 is such a great classic. Originally released as Final Fantasy Three for the SNES we are thrown into the story of Magic versus machine war. But that is just part of what makes this game worthwhile. You begin this adventure in the midst of war, as a girl with mysterious power being controlled by the Gestalian empire in order to go to Narshe and to find the frozen Esper. This installment just goes to show you that graphics aren't everything. With an extraordinary cast, spectacular music, and a plot that never lets down for a minute you'll be glad you picked this game. The gameboy advance version differs only slightly with added music variations and a bestiary that let's you examine the monsters you have battled. So here's how I rate it.

Plot: 4.5/5
Characters: 5/5
Music: 5/5
Graphics: 3.5/5
Monsters: 4/5
Overall: 5/5

Playing this game brings back a lot of good memories. This game is a must for GBA players who enjoy a good RPG.

Super Final Fantasy III reborn in all its glory!
Review created: 07/24/08
by:
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

This game was first released on Super Nintendo as the misappropriated Final Fantasy III, hence the 'Super' in the title of my review to differentiate from the actual Final Fantasy III for the japanese NES that was recently remade and rereleased for Nintendo DS. I also used 'Super' as a homage to the many many SNES games that started with the title of 'Super' to distinguish their superiority from their NES counterparts.

Now, down to business.

This game is almost an exact copy/port from the SNES cart except a for a few enhancements, which are fantastic.
1. The Bestiary - a detailed exhaustive list of all enemies/monsters for those OCD kids who need to 'catch em all'.
2. It's now portable - the other version were not handhold-able, unless you had a PSone with the LCD screen and battery pack. But still, who'd do that and fear looking like a major geek carrying around something the size of a small laptop just for the glitchiness that was FFVI (part of Final Fantasy Anthology)on the Playstation. Seriously, the menu loading times were just horrendous.
3. Quicksaves - no more looking for a save point for hours when you're in a dungeon if your mom (wife, in my case) tells you to 'turn the darn thing off before I break it!'
4. Re-translated script - Japanese naming conventions are used for the spells and monsters. Many of the edited and mature themes prevalent in the game's dialogue have been expressed more clearly in this version. No, no, no, relax, it's not hentai.
5. Four new espers - Leviathan, Gilgamesh, Cactuar, and Diabolos (quick, catch 'em all)
6. A new dungeon called the Dragons' Den to waste your time instead of getting something productive done.
7. The "Soul Shrine" - a place where the player can fight monsters continuously. (ditto to #6 multiplied by infinity)
8. Three new spells - Flood, Valor, and Gravija (who uses anything else once you have ultima?)
9. A music player - now you can listen your favorite songs from the game, anywhere, anytime, on the go!
10. The package features new artwork by series veteran and original character and image designer Yoshitaka Amano. Just awesome!

Now for the imperfections:
A: Several bugs from the original (such as the Vanish/Doom glitch and the Evade Bug) are fixed. No more easy Intangir kills. *frown*
B: Most of the edits and censorship from the original Super Final Fantasy III version are also edited in the GBA port, However a scene involving Celes being punched by a soldier was completely removed (specific to this version). Suck! Who doesn't want to see a former general of the Empire clobbered by one of her own? What, are we just too queazy over here on this side of the year 2000?

All in all, if you have ever known of, heard of, seen, played, or thought about playing Final Fantasy VI (Super Final Fantasy III) BUY THIS GAME!!!

  Own this game!

I had never played Final Fantasy until a couple of years ago and I am saddened that I had missed out on it until then! I owned a Super Nintendo when I was little but always played the Mario games and never tried these. I highly recommend you play it and own it but I will warn you it's very addicting!

  Played At Last

The title says it all, after all these years I have finally played my very first Final Fantasy game! Originally, the only thing I knew about Final Fantasy, besides the basics, was that I really loved the music, which is actually the main reason I bought this game, but after playing the game through, I'm almost done, there's more to love than just the music. The storyline is great, as it surprises you twists and turns and great character development. Each character you play through has their own story and if you want to, you can go on side quests to learn more about each one. The difficulty level is not too high from what I've played through, however, it's not necessarily easy. As far as places go there are many places to travel to. Though there are similar aspects seen in every town, each town has its own look and feel to it and is filled with all kinds of townsfolk. I recommend this game really to anyone, unless you hate reading, though there's not TOO much as this is not Super Paper Mario. (No offense to anyone, I love that game too!) Other than that...I'd say go for it! The game is relatively cheap and whether you would be playing this for the first time like me, or if you have already played the game or like other Final Fantasy games, then I'm sure that you will enjoy this game very much.

  Good port.

I got so excited when I found out they were porting FFVI on the GBA. Once I bought the game, I didn't like how some of the music has changed. But I do like the World Map music. It sounds better than the one on SNES. I thought the game would go 100% super fast as the SNES version, but I was wrong. When you're at a big place like Narshe for example and walk around, the scrolling will get a bit lag. I haven't heard any review say anything about this slowness. Only read about the lag of text speed and battle animation. I had never experience any of those two. I think it depends on what system you played it on. I played mine on my DS, so I think it lag when I walk around at big places. But that doesn't matter to me. As long the game is a ported game with extra stuff added in to it, I'm happy.

If you are a gamer and likes to play RPG game on your portable system, this is a game that you should buy because it's very entertaining.

The Greatest RPG of all time.

The short and sweet of this review is simple, this is THE game that fostered my love of video games in general, and more specifically, RPG's. Ever since I first played this game at my friend's house down the street from me, I was hooked. Final Fantasy VI (Final Fantasy III on the SNES in America) had the most engrossing storyline, and in my opinion it still does to this day, of any RPG I have ever played before or since. When I got my hands on a PlayStation and Final Fantasy VII a few years later, I became equally engrossed in the storyline, but the entire time I found myself drawing comparisons to it and Final Fantasy III, simply because FFIII had set the precedent that I had come to expect from an RPG, no matter who it was made by. There may be many RPG's in this new console era that have fantastic graphics, gameplay, and mechanics, but as of yet, I have never found one that has rivaled the storytelling of Final Fantasy VI, bar none.

This game is a beautifully done. Dynamic storyline, Characters with deep back stories and a evil like no other. There are parts in this game that will make you laugh your butt off, deeply sad parts that'll make you cry, beautiful parts that'll send a shiver down your spine and a few parts that'll make you hate the bad guy even more. This is one of the most memorable games i have ever played. When you pick it up... You won't want to put it down! I highly suggest it for rpg gamers of all skill levels!

  Buyer Beware: Bootleg Copy!!!
Review created: 10/23/09

twolfjb ( 1 )

After playing the game for several days, I was very disappointed to discover that my copy of Final Fantasy VI Advance was a bootleg. When the game began to freeze I checked online to find solutions and to my dismay, I found out that my copy is actually a bootleg one and other people had similar problems. I am very disappointed that Ebay would allow someone to get away with selling bootleg versions of games. I intend to seek reimbursment and warn everyone about this seller.

Just take 2 minutes and read this. This is very EASY to do! It literally
takes 10 minutes to setup. Simply follow the steps below. I promise you,
this is 100% real. I will answer you on any question! Here is what you
do. Click on the link below, register, pick an account type (referral is
the easiest) and complete just 1 offer (Very important that you complete
the 1 offer otherwise your account will sit in limbo until you do). This
is not like other sites where you need to complete one offer on 2 or 3
different pages!!! And a lot of these offers are FREE trials with
nothing else to buy...No commitments!!!

There are plenty of cool offers to choose from such as Blockbuster
online, Stamp.com, Netflix, Gamefly which are services you would
regularly sign up for anyways and their all secure networks, why not use
them to get a free PS3 System or cash (I did the Stamps.com for a 30 day
free trial and it never cost me a penny and I received credit for it the
same day). Look at the offers and choose the one that works for you.
After signing up and completing your one offer, simply refer 8-13 people
(depending on the FREE prize you choose) to do the same under your link
(just post the same thing as I have on eBay, and you'll get your
referrals before the auction even ends.)

Then they will ship your PS3 System or your selected item for free, I
chose the PS3 80gb System. No Joke, 100% REAL!!! The reason these
companies make money, is because most people don't bother getting all
the referrals. All you have to do is post it ! They use us as
advertisement by word of mouth which saves them tons of money which goes
toward yours and my free gift. These are legit companies such as
Blockbuster, Netflix, Gamefly etc... You can copy my listing if you
want. You must use your own authentic link though. You will get your own
personal link after your orders placed.

Step 1: Click this link http:

Step 2: Sign up and chose an account type (Referral is the easiest and
best).

Step 3: Complete just 1 offer (like Blockbuster or Stamps.com) and refer
up to 13 people to do the same (use eBay! Do what I did, copy my ad).

Step 4: Receive your PS3 System for FREE!!!!!!!!!! (Even The Shipping Is
Free!!!)

For proof that this is for real, click on the link below. It's the
company that is behind everything.

One of the best RPG's ever created. It has been remade and enhanced for the Game Boy Advance for convenient portability. I bought this version because I still love the game and wanted to play it but didn't want to dust off the old Super Nintendo. It runs the same as the original and it has a few extra features.

For me, this is the best Final Fantasy in the series. This is the third release of this particular game, originally for the SNES as Final Fantasy III, then on the PSX in Final Fantasy Anthologies(or Chronicles). Fan or not of the series, this is a must have for any RPG fan and for any gamer at that. Buy it.
