Take a moment and rate this review!!

On the last day of school, you are sent to the library to assist in cleaning up before you can go home for the summer. While you are in the library, you find an interesting book and your curiosity propels you into a fantasy world from which you are trying (albeit not very hard) to escape.
If you are a fan of the original Final Fantasy Tactics game for the advance, then you will really love A2. If you don't have any previous experience with Final Fantasy Tactics, then the following is important to know;

This is a fantasy turn based role playing game. Focus is on tactics and teamwork founded on magic use and melee combat.

The interface is very much familiar, but one of the main new things is the way that you gain new items and weapons. You have to use items that you recover from battles and turn them in at a shop to have new weapons become available for sale. Weapons and equipment are made at the shops by combining items that you gain from battle.

The story line is somewhat interesting, but doesn't play a large role in game-play.

Overall, you really need to love FF Tactics or be a huge fan of FF to keep interested in this game. After a few levels, its more of the same with little deviation. The things that will keep you interested are the many combinations of new weapons and armor.

8/10

Too bad I waited so long for this

Being a big fan of tactical games, including Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, I was eagerly anticipating the release of A2 for almost a year. When it was finally released and I purchased it on release day, I popped the game in my DS.

Two months later, and I'm still only about 15 hours into the game. The story is worse than both previous versions, where a kid basically writes in a book and becomes part of it, and obviously doesn't want to go home while on a quest to find a way home. That's it.

There are new jobs in the game like the Green Mage, but the better jobs are still the ones available since the previous two games (Ninja, Assassin, Juggler, etc). Leveling jobs is a bit annoying to me, because you keep running out of weapons to level a job, and having to switch every character to some job you don't want just to not waste AP (Tinker/Gadgeteer anyone?).

There are also two new races, but jobs for these two races are so meager that they're almost more like novelty than anything.

The graphics aren't exactly superior to its predecessors, but it is a tactical game, so graphics are rarely better than 2D sprites anyways. The multiplayer hasn't really improved from FFTA. The story and gameplay both lack compared to the previous two games in the series. Overall, it's not a _bad_ game; it's just not very good.

Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Gilmoire of the Rift
Review created: 02/02/10

This game is an Excellent turn based RPG that has all kinds of classes that you can built your character into. If you played the original Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced for the SP then you will be familiar with this game the basics are the same character movement is the same you have to take your team on missions and win battle related adventures. Its a fun game to play I give it a 4 stars out of 5. So pick it up and give it a try. A must for the strategy RPG fan.

Just take 2 minutes and read this. This is very EASY to do! It literally
takes 10 minutes to setup. Simply follow the steps below. I promise you,
this is 100% real. I will answer you on any question! Here is what you
do. Click on the link below, register, pick an account type (referral is
the easiest) and complete just 1 offer (Very important that you complete
the 1 offer otherwise your account will sit in limbo until you do). This
is not like other sites where you need to complete one offer on 2 or 3
different pages!!! And a lot of these offers are FREE trials with
nothing else to buy...No commitments!!!

There are plenty of cool offers to choose from such as Blockbuster
online, Stamp.com, Netflix, Gamefly which are services you would
regularly sign up for anyways and their all secure networks, why not use
them to get a free PS3 System or cash (I did the Stamps.com for a 30 day
free trial and it never cost me a penny and I received credit for it the
same day). Look at the offers and choose the one that works for you.
After signing up and completing your one offer, simply refer 8-13 people
(depending on the FREE prize you choose) to do the same under your link
(just post the same thing as I have on eBay, and you'll get your
referrals before the auction even ends.)

Then they will ship your PS3 System or your selected item for free, I
chose the PS3 80gb System. No Joke, 100% REAL!!! The reason these
companies make money, is because most people don't bother getting all
the referrals. All you have to do is post it ! They use us as
advertisement by word of mouth which saves them tons of money which goes
toward yours and my free gift. These are legit companies such as
Blockbuster, Netflix, Gamefly etc... You can copy my listing if you
want. You must use your own authentic link though. You will get your own
personal link after your orders placed.

Step 1: Click this link http:
http://www.YourPS34free.com/index.php?ref=5452229

Step 2: Sign up and chose an account type (Referral is the easiest and
best).

Step 3: Complete just 1 offer (like Blockbuster or Stamps.com) and refer
up to 13 people to do the same (use eBay! Do what I did, copy my ad).

Step 4: Receive your PS3 System for FREE!!!!!!!!!! (Even The Shipping Is
Free!!!)

For proof that this is for real, click on the link below. It's the
company that is behind everything.

  Excellent Game
Review created: 06/16/09

This is a great DS title. It is easy to understand and easy to play yet presents plenty of challenge for the advid gamer. This is a stratedgy tactical game that is turn based, has roll playing elements to go along with Square Enix popular Final Fantasy franchise. It is a must have for any Final Fantasy fan or anyone who enjoys good stratedgy games. It takes place in Ivalice and is similar to gameboy advance version. It is a little more cartoonish than the PSP tactics version and it would be nice to see a more grown up verison. I own all the Final Fantasy and tactic games.

Fun Game with lots of side quests and tons of Armor and weapons to find. Game also features spells and attacks that have to be unlocked by completing certain missions, tons of characters and bosses and addicting game play and battle system that will keep you busy for hours at a time. I highly recommend this game.

  FF tactics A2 review
Review created: 11/24/08

The game is very addicting. The only draw back is the combat takes to long. It seems like it takes almost 30 minutes per battle, and there are hundreds if not thousands of battles to go threw. But character development is at its best in this game. Story is average at best. bought it because i'm a big final fantasy gamer.

  Great game
Review created: 09/09/08

im still in the middle of this game, but its great. im dissapointed that the story line has a new main character, I expected it to be either van or marche. also the storyline was better for the first game. this game is great but it isnt as attractive as final fantasy tactics advance, but most of the sequals arent as good as the origenals i guess. but other than that its awsome, new classes, new races and new item system.

  pretty darn good

Anyone who has been with this series knows the many changes that happen with each one. The job ability system is kind of a pain but as you have to fight battles to get items to make weapons, and then you can buy the items in the shops, finally you can work on building it up. I have always loved this series and am satisfied with the results of the effort put into this game.

Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift
Review created: 07/24/08
by:

If you like the 'Final Fantasy' series and liked the 'Final Fantasy Tactics' for Playstation, this IS a must have game. Or if you don't know FFT, this game is still a great experience for you.

In 'Final Fantasy Tactics A2' you start as Luso a normal boy that suddenly finds himself joining a clan and engaging a giant ferous bird, surrounded by a world full of magick, creatures and different races, such as the well known Moogles and the new Grias.

As you progress you'll get new members on your clan and will be able to change their professions, as well as yours. Each profession, over 50, has a different stats growth and different skills making this game really fun to work on.
The skills you get by learning from weapons/armors/acessories, those you can buy on shops. Getting new equipment requires you to use a new feature that take your loot from battles to forge it and make it avaiable for buying.

Also note that this is a Stragegy/RPG game that works on square-based movement and speed-based turns, faster units acts more often, and your actions on each turn also changes how fast you'll act again. This may scare some new players but, after a while it becomes pretty simple.

Great effects and scenarios, LOTS of quests to do, and a pretty good story.
Another Square-Enix Great Game.
