The Fifth Element (Blu-ray Disc, 2007)

The 5th Element is one of my favorite scifi movies and I bought the Blu-Ray disc to update from my standard DVD. The resolution and detail of people's faces and others were improved over my upconverted DVD. Unfortunately, the BD did fill the screen of my Sony Bravia 52" LCD leaving bars on top and bottom. I had to set the picture at zoom, thus cutting off the sides a little to take advantage of the big screen. One would expect a true 1080P disc would fill the screen without help but maybe this movie being released in 1997 had technology which held it back. I question whether I should have bought a Blu-Ray over staying with an upconverted standard DVD.
