I can not rave enough on this book and the entire series. The characters are so real to me now I expect them to walk in the room. This is a time travel book and is full of historical facts, events from 18th century Scotland. Gabaldon is very acurate of Scottish life in this time period. this story is placed in the American colonies with the same characters from the previous books. A romantic story full of love, hate, war, highland violence and intrugue. Language is moderate. Some sex, but scenes are not overly offensive. Characters are bright and vivid. Very LONG books, but they did end too soon! I Recommend all the Outlander books by this author.

  The Fiery Cross

I decided to buy it because it was in a series of books by Diana Gabaldon and I wanted to include it in my library. I haven't actually read it yet because I started with book one in the series and am only on book two at this time. I'm sure it will be as good as the others. The author has done her reasearch and the facts of the times are very informative and interesting.

I love the Diana Gabaldon series, but the books are very difficult to find second hand. If you are llike me and don't mind re-reading, e-bay is the place to go. I got the book at about a 70% discount, and it read just the same as a new copy. I promise.

The Fiery Cross by Diana Gabaldon (Outlander series)
Review created: 06/07/08

This is a great book series. There are six books in the series with a seventh to come out soon. The story centers around Claire and Jamie. Claire travels back in time 200 years to the 1700's. It is non-stop action. It has everything-time travel, history, romance. I am really enjoying the books and I will hate to come to the last sentence in the last book!!!

The Time-Traveling Outlander Series Rocks On!
Review created: 04/13/08
by:

One only buys a part of a series if one is enmeshed in the series. THE OUTLANDER SERIES, by Diana Gabaldon, is one of those adventure stories that grab readers in the first book and keep us scrabbling to get the next book, and the next. My delight in this, the fifth book (beautifully conceived and written as are all the others), was only marred by the realization that it didn't end the series! There is a next one yet unpublished. I CAN'T WAIT!!! So, start with THE OUTLANDER. Part time-travel fantasy, part historical fantasy, part hot romantic thriller, it defies catagorization. But it's a hellava good read! I just hope the next one comes out soon...

Another great book in the saga of Jamie and Claire.

Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series of books are some of the greatest romance novels of our time. The Fiery Cross is just as spellbinding as the books leading up to it in this saga, and the writing is so gripping and transports the reader to that place in time. She has the ability to describe people and events in the mind's eye - the main characters are so loveable, and you can visualize the people, places, and times. There was nothing I disliked about this book - love all her books from this series, as well as The Fiery Cross. Just hoping and waiting for a TV mini series or a movie trilogy to come out.
Sign me: A fan of the Outlander saga.

I'm so glad Diana Gabaldon had more to tell about Jamie and Claire. I've bought all the books because I want to be able to read them again. She gets better with each one. The books are full of action and romance and history, oh and throw in a little time travel just to keep things going!

  Fantastic Series!
Review created: 05/07/07

The entire Outlander series as a whole is exciting, breath-taking, and completely wonderful. Diana Gabaldon's ability to take historical facts and weave such a beautiful tapestry of characters, events, and storylines is facinating. While "The Fiery Cross" seemed to me to be a bit slower to catch on, it still delivers a great story...which is carried through and continued in "A Breath of Snow and Ashes". Her Outlander series has been a joy and a pure pleasure to read, so much so, that I recommend it to all my fellow reading enthusiasts.
