Field of Dreams (HD DVD, 2006)

this movie is a classic, one of a kind. Nothing like childhood memories and how they effect your life.

Great movie that captures the American love of baseball as a tradition and an integral part of our culture. One of Kevin Costner's better performances - he's not quite so wooden in this one. James Earl Jones is very good as Terrance Mann (a fictional author from the 60s/70s), though it would have been nice to have the actual character from the book - J.D. Salinger. As good as the movie is I kind of liked the book ("Shoeless Joe") better, mostly because the book left it up in the air as to whether the ghost ballplayers were really there or were simply a metaphor. Nice bit part by Burt Lancaster as Moonlight Graham.

Those who know & love baseball will really appreciate the writer's love of the game and its place in American culture, but it's a move that can also be enjoyed by lay persons, as well. "If you build it, he will come" has become a classic phrase in our culture.

Watched this movie years ago on video. Good movie. Wanted to have the HD version especially since it was filmed in Iowa close to the college our son graduated from. We are from Iowa so a good movie for our library.

I think this movie is a classic "baseball" movie, but more about something that is fading today. I remember throwing baseball with my Dad, but an industrial accident ended that (he lost a thumb). With his recent passing, this movie is even more special. Kostner is a little too wild eyed, and the town meeting scene is a little silly, but this movie still a blast. Burt Lancaster & Ray Liotta were perfect! Go get it today and add it to your collection!

A timeless classic. Paints a great picture of baseball for the kids, and good family values. Kevin Costner does a excellent job, as does James Earl Jones et al. We watched it with our boys and several of the boys from their team and every loved the movie.
