A Field Guide to Mushrooms (1998, Paperback, Reissue)

My husbamd and I are facinated with plants, nature, and wildlife. We have many books that instruct and enlighten us. We have always wanted to learn much more on mushroom picking, hench the purchase of two books on mushrooms. They are very helpful, but we are still a little wary of actually eating some of the odd mushrooms we've found. The descriptions are excellent as are the color photographs. I would certainly reccommend this book highly.

Well organized, detailed guide to mushrooms with lots of good photos. Oriented more toward those who just want to identify species for their own interest, and not so much at finding edible ones (there are better books for that) but does note which are edible, tasty, non-edible and poisonous. We have a lot of interesting and weird mushrooms that sprout after a rain in our semi-wooded yard and my daughter and I have fun identifying and learning about the various types. This is the field guide we have found to be the most dependable in terms of being able to identify the fungi that we find.
