Emo before there was emo

Having never heard Sunny Day before, it's pretty obvious that the emo of today owes a lot to this band. Although, Sunny Day Real Estate, since they were charting new territory, didn't have to worry about rehashing the same bland stuff like emo bands are doing now. Refreshing to hear the real deal among all the modern day copy cats. These guys prove emo doesn't have to be dumb; they do it well, with creative and fresh arrangements.

) Up there with Yield, released the same year, as far as northwest rock is concerned. I'd recomend this to anyone that enjoys a clean hook and a steady theme. Enigk and company will always inspire the lesser bands that try to emulate (steal) those hard thought-out rifs that continue to dominate the landscape of all that is pleasing to the ear.
