Album Notes Rush: Geddy Lee (vocals, bass guitar); Alex Lifeson (guitar); Neil Peart (drums). Liner Note Author: Neil Peart. Recording information: Phase One Studios, Toronto, Ontario, Canada (03/2004 - 04/2004). For those long-time Rush fans who've always enjoyed the group's early, pre-2112 straight-ahead hard rock, FEEDBACK will come as a welcome diversion from the Canadian trio's later, much more complex work. An album of 1960s-era cover tunes that were inspirational to the band members early in their careers, the disc brings Rush back to basics, stripping away the synthesizers, effects-laden guitar, and percussion triggers, leaving only guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. From the opening notes of "Summertime Blues" (seemingly inspired equally by the Blue Cheer and Who LIVE AT LEEDS versions), the band's love of these songs is obvious; this is the unadulterated sound of Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart having fun rocking out. Wisely, Rush never strays too far from the original arrangements, which allows the record to evoke the feeling of stumbling onto the world's greatest classic-rock bar band. | Find errors in the product description? Reviews Unusual recording for a Superband. Nice to hear Rush's interests in earlier influences. Excellent versions and performance shows a different side of the band. Loved it!!! ALL VERY GOOD!!! Review ID: 10000000003845306 Was this review helpful? Report this review I was a teenager during the 60's and heard the songs that Rush covers on this album. Rush proves that they still rock and I was impressed with the fact that they only used guitars and drums. Summertime Blues is worth the cost of the cd alone! I'm a long time Rush fan and I was very pleased for them to do a cover album. Rock on guys... Review ID: 10000000003099690 Was this review helpful? Report this review |
