This movie follows Anne Rices book very well and gives us a good look inside a very unique group of people. It shows us that not all african Americans were slaves, that we were actually land owners and business men in a time when the rest of the States thought we were only good for picking cotton.
Check out this movie

An excellent dvd. Played perfectly. I enjoyed the movie tremendously. Great Experience. I am new to using DVD's and they don't make vcr cassette movies anymore, even though I have vcr's in my home. But I am learning how to use dvd players and I could not resist this movie. It was wonderful.

The movie was absolutly amazing. I am an African American student at LSU and doing research on New Orleans pre Antebellum. This is very indicative of the relationships and life of African American Creoles here in America at the time and the very heavy French influence on the gens de couleur (free people of color). As a history lover, I would recommend this movie to anyone!

Loved the book and found the video almost as good. Naturally the book delves deeper into the lives of these interesting people. The video is good though.

This is actually my second set of this DVD. A friend sent it to me a few years ago and everytime I lend it out, it gets missing because people want to watch it over and over -like me. This movie has history, romance, drama, suspense-EVERYTHING that a real movie fanatic would be looking for. It's now one of my favorite movies of all time.

Tis a movie that All People should see especially Black and White Americans. Some parts of the movie hurt me to know how fair skined Black Americans came to be, but never the less that's the way it was, and is very important to know.
Thank you Anne Rice, for this part of untold history.
The actors were fantastic...

I was happy to have found this particularly movie as I had seen it orginally on Showtime. I liked this film because of its historical significance relating to the history of African-Americans in New Orleans.

Sincerly,
Paula Williams
