Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (DVD, 2003, Criterion Collection)

Depp's acting in this movie was beyond great and he should have a oscar for his role. This movie almost follows the book word for word and that is rare.
Hunter makes a cameo in this movie and the red car is hunter's. Depp lived with thompson before shooting this film to get a feel for the real hunter s. He was hunter in this film. If you have not seen this movie go out and buy it you will not be dissapointed.

One of my favorite movies of all time. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (the Criterion Collection version, which this happens to be) comes with a great booklet with sketches and excerpts from the real Hunter S. Thompson. It is a two disc set and the first disc is just the movie but the second is full of special features including some shots of Depp hanging out and getting messed up with Thompson lol.
Great movie set at a great price.

This is one of my favorite movies ever. It represents a great creation from the mind of Hunter S. Thompson brought to life by director Terry Gilliam. Johnny Depp plays a fantastic role as well as Benicio Del Torro. There are many small roles by some actors/actresses that we know very well today (Cameron Diaz, Toby McGuire, Christina Ricci). This movie is about the end of an era as seen through the eyes (for real and some hallucination) of a journalist and his attourny on a long drug binge in Las Vegas. I highly recomend buying or at least renting this film.

The general target audience of this frenzied psychedelic roller coaster should be clear by now. I'm just glad Johnny Depp, Benicio Del Toro, and Terry Gilliam were able to pull this project together and maintain the respect due Hunter S. Thompson. The look of the film is fantastic -- surreal, chaotic, moody, atmospheric, and populated with characters filtered through the minds' eyes of the Doctor and his Attorney.
There are also a wealth of special features on the Criterion edition which cannot be found on any other edition of the film to date.

I love this movie! Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro are at their best here. What can I say? It's just classic. I love the alligator suit that Doc Gonzo wakes up in at one point. Oh- but watching this movie FOR SURE makes me want to stay away from the ether!

I stumbled on this movie quite a few years ago. It is a wonderful movie for someone who enjoys a darker side of humor. Not recommended for children. But definitly recommended for someone who can get a laugh out of two guys on a drug spree!! I have watched it many time and plan on watching it many more!

A strange and twisted journey leading straight to the heart of the american dream. Remember, "All life flows according to the whims of the great magnet!"

This is a must see for those who want to be enlightened or those who have a tendency to push things to extremes!

johnny depp is an amazing actor. this is just another example of his diversity as an actor. this movie will keep you entertained and make you remember about your "party days". there are some great quotes in this movie. children should not see this movie, though. i rented this movie, and knew i had to own it !!

I am a huge fan of johnny depp and have seen all of his movies. This one stands out because he plays such an odd character and noone could ever attempt to play the character quite like he does it. If you like drug and stoner movies HERE IT IS!!! he plays a wacked out drug addict Magazine reporter who takes his drug addicted lawyer to vegas for a few days to cover a motorcycle race (dont worry there is only like 15 minutes of racing in the whole movie and it is really funny) they went to vegas for the race but they were too high and drunk to do the job so the whole movie is one crazy drug induced adventure. They special effects are so good it will make you think you are on something just watching it.... If you like to party, like johnny depp, like comedies with drug induced scenes, or are have a thing for weird movies THIS IS THE ONE FOR YOU- 420

This movie is a classic in my book. There couldn't have been anybody else to play that role other than Johnny Depp. It was pure magic on the screen! I have not had the opportunity to read the book, but I have heard from others that have that this movie is one of the rare times that the movie does the book justice. Love it. It's one of my favorites!

I love this movie. I bought it on ebay because i couldnt find it around town and the particular one i bought was fairly cheap. The main character who is supposed to be Hunter S. Thompson is just amazing. Johnny Depp does a very good job portraying him and he even spent 6 weeks with Hunter S. Thompson living in his basement to prepare for the movie.

This is my favorite movie of all time! Terry Gilliam did an amazing job recreating Hunter S. Thompson's book. Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro who portray the infamous Raul Duke and Dr. Gonzo completely lose themselves in thier characters which makes this movie even funner and intense! The criterion collection included some extra features, like the making of, behind the scenes, ect..and for a huge fan like myself who already had the original movie on DVD...it was worth the $$ to have this one too!

I bought it because I wanted this movie, and everything was smooth and easy with the seller. Turns out a person needs to "enter at least 100 characters" so here's they are... The seller was great- what more do I need to say?

This movie is great! Its a bit of a head trip, and it can be hard to follow but it is totally worth watching. People either love or hate this movie, there isn't really an in between. Either you love how out there it is, or you think its unrealistic and despise it (so, do not watch this film on a first date).

Perfect condition. I thought it was brand new when I first looked at it. No disk damage, little-to-no damage to the box. I freaking LOVED IT. Now I have the sweet sweet hilarious sounds of Benicio del Toro on an acid frenzy while I light up. And what could be better than that?

Hunter S. Thompson, in my opinion, is one of the defining writers of the twentieth and twenty first centuries. the book that this movie is based on, "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas", is my favorite book of all time. Thompson captures the atmosphere of an acid trip and other psychedelic drugs as well as the insanity of trying to behave under such strong influences. The book describes the true nature of what Americans consider a decent society. The director, Terry Gilliam, along with a cast of actors that include Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro, successfully captures the essence of the book. A true journey through the minds of the twisted, ripped, stoned and as Raoul Duke refers to him and his attorney, "Good People".

I absolutely love this movie! Johnny Depps performance was wonderful. Its definetly a movie to watch over and over again.

First of all, I love the movie & have seen it over 100 times. The movie may not make sense the first few times you watch it, so if you don`t like it at first, watch it a few more times. The supplement disc that comes with it is great for a huge fan like myself b/c it has a lot more background and a lot of stuff on the real Thompson which was great. After I watch it, I am always left wanting more, so I`m glad I got the 2 disc. If you still aren`t satisfied, my suggestion to you would be to drive at top speed to your library to read the book.
