It is a really good diet. But I don't call it a diet. It is really conditioning you in the beginning to get back to healthy eating and the end sticking to the healthier eating plan.
I loved the book it works for me and now my daughter is on this program and has friends asking her about the book
I did not lose any inches the first 2 weeks, but I have went from a size 15 (I think) back to a size 9 in 5 weeks.
I will also admit I didn't do the work out the first 3 weeks but I am now and I feel great.
I am ver thankful for this book.

  Not JUST for Celebrities

If you sit at home and watch Celebrity Fit Club on VH1 - no doubt you have been stunned by the amounts of weight being lost in such a short time by these celebrities. Who can not help but be drawn in after seeing people lose over 10 lbs in such a short time! I decided to give Dr. Ians book a shot myself.

The Fat Smash diet is so very easy to follow broken up into phases. Each phase is specific, and gives you the right pointers you need a achieve not only weight loss but complete life style changes. He even added 50 recipies - some for every phase, and they are healthy new ways to eat. The best part is - there is no special foods you need to go hunt for at some health food store, no counting calories or adding up grams of this and grams of that.

Soon if you follow the book, you will begin down the road to a healthier ways of life that does not stop - and is easy to incorporate into a busy life. This is not just another of THOUSANDS of diet books that seem to work for awhile, and then you fall off the wagon and ended up spending money on another usless book. THIS IS THE ONE!!

This is an easy to follow diet. It has several phases, The first 9 days were the hardest, but then you can add more foods and finally desserts. I lost 13 lbs in the first 2 weeks. Thanks Dr. Ian Smith for a diet that can work without giving up everything. My family and friends went out and bought a copy.

My doctor recently told me that losing weight isn't about dieting it's about changing our habits and keeping those habits strong. Eat healthy. Avoid fatty foods and stick to it. This book is all about that. I like the way you don't measure or count calories. You don't feel deprived and you make better choices. Exercise too and it's unbeatable.

  Huge Weight Loss

I first heard about this product on The Opie and Anthony Show. Ian Smith came on the show and discussed the book and how it works. There was many callers who called in with success stories. I thean decided to oreder this along with several other family members. Out of four of us thre loss mor than ten pounds in phase 1, which is nine days. As long as a person follows it properly and does not cheat I cant see why they would not have the same success. It is very easy and there are plenty of recipes in the book and on the web to make this diet enjoyable. Just like any habit you must be prepared to start so set a date and stick to it and you love the new you.

Easy to follow. Great simple to read advice broken up into phases. this is not a diet. Its a way of life. the detox is wonderful. it changed my life! The book is designed to keep you healthy and full of iron and proteins while shedding those pounds. I love they way Dr. Ian has the DO NOT EAT list. So many books are so general about what you should and should not eat. this book is right to the point. I have done well off this book. You can see my results here: http://tygartales.homestead.com/fatsmashdiet.html My only problem is I didn't find out about this book sooner.

  The Fat Smash Diet

Though I'm sure anyone would lose weight on this plan, it is simply too restrictive. You can ONLY eat fruits and veggies for the first nine days. Well of course you would lose weight. You can only eat so many fruits and veggies. I'm sure it would be good to detox like that but I'm being realistic. After the 9 day detox, it becomes very confusing about what foods you can add back at certain stages. It's just not cut and dry. You would have to be very dedicated and devoted. He even mentions that any stresses or destractions in your life will sabotage your diet plan. Well, I personally don't know anyone who doesn't always have stresses, deadlines, children, family etc. in their lives. For those of you single, not stressed with lots of time on your hands, this may be for you. For the rest of us, their are so many more less difficult diet plans to follow. For example, simply cutting back, portion control and exercise. I was just curious to see what was in the book because I love watching Celebrity Fit Club. Hope this helps someone make a decision.

After reading and following countless diet books, I decided to give this one a try after watching VH1's Celebrity Fit Club.

I am just in Phase 2 but the plan is working. Phase 1 is the detox phase - a key part of starting this diet. Once you complete this phase, you'll already feel better - not just from dropping the weight, but because you're ridding your body of toxins.

This is definitely a "way of life"...so a good attitude is a must when you start this diet.

The book is very easy to read and presented in a user friendly format. I am excited about beginning this new way of eating. I especially like how Dr. Ian Smith describes how easily exercise can be incorporated into your daily life (e.g., beginning small w/30 minutes a day, then increasing over time).

Phase 1 was easy to understand. Then on to Phase 2 I had difficulty knowing just what to eat. It was not specific enough some sample meals would be very helpful. I tried the web sight to ask questions but they were never answered.

Why you bought it
What you like most about it
What you dislike about it
I bought this book upon recomendation of a friend who tried and liked the diet. I bought it and kind of expected to lose a few pounds then fall off. After being about half way through the first phase of the diet, I was over my cravings. Not to say I didn't miss the junk but the workout plan was really helpful. It's the kind of diet that you have to be willing to sacrifice for at the beginning. I got a little cranky at first, but I just ate fruit every time I felt hungry and saw results by the end of the week. THe only thing I didn't like was the feeling of low energy I got in phase 1. The best things about this diet are the fast results and the forgiving manner in which the diet is planned, allowing for "cheats" here and there without major setbacks.

Good diet for people who don't diet well

this diet is a good one if you have a hard time doing the induction on the other diets. You can have fruits during the 1st 9 days so your sugar cravings aren't as bad. I didn't lose weight as quickly but it has helped me to eat better. My husband has lost 15 pounds so far on this diet after one month. Women lose slower than men i guess.

I am having trouble understanding just what is supposed to be eaten every day. A few sample daily meal plans would be helpful in understanding exactly what you are supposed to eat every day. I have not been able to get answers to my questions and am frustrated trying to figure out if I am following the plan correctly. Phase 1 was simple to follow, but Phase 2 is confusing!

It's a healthy approach to losing weight. The focus is on eating healthier foods and making better choices on what you eat, how much you eat and when your eating. Add some cardio or resistence training to the changes in your eating lifestyle...the results are incredible.

  Tough diet

My eating habits had gotten out of control so I purchased The Fat Smash Diet to get back on track. The diet is divided into 4 sections and is meant to replace poor eating habits with healthy ones. I lasted through the first 2 diet phases. The first is tough. You need to be sure you do it when fruits and vegetables are in season because even then it's expensive. I'm sure it's healthy, but it was also pretty restrictive for someone with a candy addiction.

20 pounds lost in 8 weeks..if I can do this so can you
Review created: 08/28/07
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I'm pretty good at following an eating plan/diet for about 2 weeks. Afterwards, I get bored or distracted. Fat Smash has been different. I have followed Dr. Ian's Fat Smash Diet for 8 weeks now and I'm down 20 pounds and 2 dress sizes.

The Fat Smash Diet is outlined in Dr. Ian Smith's book and has 4 Phases. The specifics of each phase is listed in great detail and go so far as to list what you can and can not eat. The first 9 days are relatively difficult and I found worked best when I had beans of some type. Beans = protein and for me protein = energy.

After detox, Fat Smash moves you to phase 2, which esentially is adding back lean protein. The biggest aspect of phase 2 for me was that you are allowed meat in 4 oz servings. I did not realize that 4 ounces of meat was only 1 chicken wing, or 1 slice pork loin or 1/2 of chicken breast. I was eating much more than that initially. Then I bought a kitchen scale and realize my mistake.

I don't feel deprived and when I want something special, I have it. However, the deal that I make with myself is that I follow the something special with 1 day of detox. It works!

Great Book and it really helped me get through my weight loss.

I have lost over 30 pounds and counting!!!!

The best part of this book for me wsa not only the receipes but also the specific title of overcoming a plateau.

When you hit a plateau it's so easy to get discouraged and quit your diet all together but this book really allowed me to get through it.

I highly recommend this book!

I recommend this book to everyone who's trying to lose weight and nothing has worked.

THIS WORKS!

  This is an ok book
Review created: 11/02/06
2 of 4 people found this review helpful.

I wanted this book because I'd heard so many raves about it and I watch that show on VH1 regularly. He seems like he really knows what he's doing. I thought this would be a healthy way to change my unhealthy eating habits. At first, the detox is difficult to get through--so that means I didn't! And, then afterwards, there's so many beans on this diet, which I am not a fan of!

This may work for a health nut, so to speak, but I think I'll just stick to watching my portion sizes & trying to exercise a little each day.

I'd have to say that the best part about this book is the beginning, which is the detox....if you can stay on a very strict eating schedule, this will help you there.

One thing I didn't like about the book at all, is that some charts are hard to read and really understand.
