A pretty factual drama of the Atom Bomb & how it grew
Some of Paul Newman's best, but least known, acting -- takes place in the autobiography of the atom bomb. The failm caputures the urgency, the problems, & the many challenges involved in the WWII Manhattan Project. It is not Shaw, Coward, nor Simon -- the direction & story do not remind you of Ford, Huston, nor Capra. But if you ever wondered how they really made the a-bomb, this is the film for you. The sets, costumes, lighting, even the film-making makes it appear to be a solid documentary of a difficult time. It is certialnly a must for history buffs -- of the military or political persuasion. Yet the film raises more questions than it settles.
