Fat Albert (2005, DVD)

I purchased this movie, basically, for my 2 sons (6 & 3)and they LOVE it! I tell them that when we were kids it WAS a cartoon! I personally can't watch it, because I liked it as that..a cartoon! But they enjoy it almost daily! And when the DVD is worn...I'll MOST LIKELY have to replace it with a new one! They watch it that much!

This movie takes off from the 70's cartoon by Bill Cosby. They use real actors rather than cartoon. It is a little sad because it shows them as adults at a funeral... Wow--not the lighthearted "Hey Hey Hey" I was expecting. It has good scenes and shares lessons and all that--but it is kind-of a downer for kids and adults alike. The director is Bill Cosby Jr. and he does a great job duplicating costumes, speech patterns, everything just like the movie. He's in the movie too. It has hip hop music. The dvd doesn't include that many extra features--just commentary, extended scenes, and behind the scenes.

I love this movie. I saw part of it while sitting in the waiting room at the dentist office and had to own it. The price was right and I've watched it a few times since buying it. If you are a child of the 70's and remember the original cartoon, this movie is for you!
