  Beware of ending!

I bought this DVD for two reason. First my favorite actor and singer was in it. KRIS KRISTOFFERSON. In fact he was the best part in the movie. Second I hate the way animals are treated on their way to the slaughter house and the way they get treated in the kill-room. People should be aware of this. My heart goes out to animals like this. Afterall they are giving up their life so we can eat. The least a person can do is treat them with as much kindness and respect as possible. Plus the danger of working in one of these places is very high. Make sure not to let young children watch it because of some gruesome parts. This movie had me very upset and in tears after watching the ending.
All in all the movie was somewhat boring but will have you thinking in the end.

MUST SEE MOVIE FOR THE UNKOWNING CONSUMER
Review created: 02/22/08

This is ANOTHER movie that every AMERICAN, and in fact every HUMAN on Earth, needs to see. This is another in a growing line of "awareness" movies that I personally feel everyone should have in their collection. The facts presented in this movie have been well known for years, but rarely exposed to the general public. The next time you want to take a bite out of a big greasy fast food burger, think about what you see in this movie, then go buy a salad instead, or better yet, go home and cook!!!
From an entertainment standpoint, this movie is actually pretty good, it has some funny moments, and has an all star cast. You will not be disappointed, how ever, I cannot stress enough, that the real reasons to watch this film are far from entertaining.....see for yourself.

This movie does not get point across as well as book.

After reading book, I thought I would like to see movie. It was poorly directed. Much too sexual, which had nothing to do with storyline. Normally good actors were terrible in this film. I won't eat beef or pork because of the nasty way it is processed and preserved. This film could have shared more of that info. and less boring jabber ! It does open you up to discussion and may help you to rethink eating fastfood, which is good. If you get it cheap enough, buy it. You may have to fast forword through some parts, so keep remote handy!

Great Wake Up Call To What We Put In Our Stomach!!!

This is another movie designed to bring out the truth in the big corporations and what they do to cut costs. While doing this, they hire illegal aliens to work jobs no one is fit to do. This is a highly recommended movie.

  Fast food CRAP!!!!!!!!!!
Review created: 12/19/09

I found this illustration of corporate america to be right on point... they are aware of the problems and just look the other way, get workers anywhere they can, and as long as sales are up it doesnt matter who is getting harmed in the process...as far as being a consumer of meat..i am taking a hiatus until production and packaging steps are safer and more sanitary for myself and my family and children...and for the critics that review this film and say this documentary is FUNNY they are Dumb @$$'$!!!!!!! there is nothing funny about americans eating crap in there food!

  Fast Food Nation
Review created: 11/20/08

An inside look into the fast food industry from different viewpoints;

1. A corporate executive investigating unsanitary conditions inside
one of the meat packing plants or slaughterhouses

2. A teenage girl employed in one of the chain's many restaurants
and how her job begins to affect her and her own friends

3. A group of undocumented, illegal Mexican laborers who are employed
at the slaughterhouse and how they cope with their day to day
lifestyles

4. A local rancher whose livestock provides cattle for the local
meat plant

5. A cocky meat plant supervisor who hires young Hispanic women and
uses them for his own sexual enjoyment

I watched the movie based on the non-fiction book of the same title
by Eric Schlosser which I have also read and I came away quite impressed
overall. The script is very realistic and hard hitting much like the
book and the main characters are played well by several well known
actors including Greg Kinnear, Esai Morales, Bruce Willis, Kris Kristofferson,
Catalina Sandino Moreno and Wilmer Valderrama. The movie touches on
several aspects of the fast food industry which I have mentioned above
and I recommend it to any who would care to see this film or who has
read the book. Very entertaining and hard hitting as well.

triumphchap

  Not really matching the content

I felt there were scenes that could have been left out like the sex ones, but instead just giving us the idea of what happens... But overall it was very good in explaining the trap that our brothers who share our continent have to suffer and how bad things must be in their own country to endure such things here. The unedible meat came as no surprise since knowing about the hormones, diseases, and now the knowledge of ecoli! I have been a vegan for 35 years! The film was very real and very well done. I loved the motive of the directors and the hard work that went into it from all involved.

Great Wake Up Call makes you Re-think.

I bought this movie because i didnt have a chance to go see it in theater and because one of my favorite artist plays a short role in the movie (Avril Lavigne).

Adults only: it is an educational movie but is kinda of (sexually explicit) which is not good for kids and the way the kill cows, WHO kills them, the way the process the meat. These brings out the truth in the big corporations and what they do to cut costs.

I PURCHASED THE MOVIE BECAUSE I HAD READ THE BOOK AND LOVED IT. THE MOVIE DOES
NOT DO THE BOOK JUSTICE. THE FAST FOOD INDUSTRY IS TOTALLY BASED ON PROFITING
AT ANY COST, REGARDLESS OF THE WELFARE OF THE PEOPLE BUYING THEIR PRODUCT.
THE NATIONS HEALTH HAS PLUMMETED IN PART TO FAST FOOD AND OBESITY IS AT AN
ALL TIME HIGH AS WELL AS HIGH CHOLESTEROL, DIABETES AND HEART DISEASE.
TO PROVE MY POINT...NEXT TIME YOU DO THE 'DRIVE THRU', ASK THE FOOD CHAIN FOR
A NUTRITIONAL GUIDE OF THEIR FOOD...IT IS TRULY ASTOUNDING!!

A Grasp on The Book of Same Title - Just OK
Review created: 02/25/08

This movie should be an appetizer for the book which inspired it. While the movie does a reasonable job by approaching the main ideas (with a special touch to make it more appealing to general audiences), the book goes much further by detailing statistics and evidence which supports the presented ideas.

Maybe because I read the book first, I wasn't so excited when I finished seeing the film, but that's just my view on things. I recommend getting the movie first and then the book, but if you prefer to get just the bottom line, this film, together with "Supersize Me", make a great duo.

I read the book and wanted to see the movie. I was very pleased with it. I was very shocked to know that the meat industry is hiding so much from us. I have actually stopped eating meat. chicken and fish are next on my list.

The ability to understand what another person's life is like, what they go through, and what shapes their opinions, is a rare thing these days. Although this movie was slow at times, and action fanatics like my husband would never be able to sit still for it, it was a good movie that makes you think about things you night not otherwise. And unfortunately, shows you the ugly side of the meat industry and fast food industry (I still eat the occasional burger though).

a thorough look at the fast food industry
Review created: 08/08/07

Like I said in the title this movie is a thorough(if boring) look into the fast food industry. I bought this film because of some of the actors and all the performances was not that great. And the ending, creepy, leaving this flick definately not for children or animal lovers.
