Fashionista by Lynn Messina (2005, Paperback)

I admit it: I judged a book by its over. The thing is, it had a little circle announcing this book to soon be a "major motion picture." Wow! (The endorsement by "actress and producer" Lindsay Lohan made me groan, but hey, a *movie*!)

But it has a 2003 date on it? I have my suspicions that this book was usurped by the better written "The Devil Wears Prada." The storylines are similar, though Jane McNeill is no Miranda Priestly. She's pretty wicked though and makes our heroine Vig Morgan's life hell.

Vig (Hedwig if you're curious like me) is an editor whose skills are way above the mindless garbage of Fashionista magazine. She is involved in a plan to teach evil Jane a lesson but it goes in an entirely different direction.

The chapters are short and the writing is quick, so I rated this book a four out of five. It will be interesting to see if the "major motion picture" deal ever pans out! I would watch it.
