Fargo Rock City - Another Chuck Klosterman Gem!
4 of 8 people found this review helpful.
Chuck Klosterman does it again - following Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs with another cultural and societal critique that is as honest as it is fun, funny and exciting. In Fargo Rock City, Chuck Klosterman explores 1980s rock 'n roll through the eyes of a Fargo teenager who is trying to understand himself as much as he's trying to understand hard rock, hair rock, glam rock, etc through the tunes of motley crue, def leppard, poison, cinderella and others. If you grew up during the 80s, love music or enjoy Chuck's other writings in Spin, Washington Post, or GQ - you will really enjoy this one. Below are just a *couple* of the MANY raving blurbs about Fargo Rock City:
Stephen King: Writing about American pop culture doesn't get any better than this or any funnier or any more readable. If you love rock 'n' roll, you will love Fargo Rock City.
Q Magazine: Eitehr one of the saddest or greatest music books ever written.
The Independent Weekly: This is the best music journalism book of the year.
