Far Cry 2 for Vista PC

Far Cry was a great game and I highly recommend it for any gamer who loves shooter games.
It installed very well on Vista 64 bit and downloaded one update. But when you insert the disk to play the game and click "Play" the screen would go black and I would have to restart my PC (by pushing the power button to shut-down)in order to get my display working again. It was an easy fix in my situation: Click "start", then "Games", you should see an Icon for Far Cry 2, then "right click" and choose "play in safe mode", Then the game would play perfectly.
I hate playing with a Mouse and Keyboard, so I used the Xbox 360 controller which played very well, however I did need to use some of the keys on the keyboard, for example: "F5" was quicksave (I did quick saves about every 10 minutes, due to previously playing 2 hours without dying and losing two hours of game play when I did die). Also "5" was used to answer the telephone, and sometimes your gun would jam and "r" to unjam (I was over half-way through the game when I found you could unjam your gun by pressing "X" on the Xbox 360 controller). Also when buying weapons or upgrades I had to sometimes use the mouse to scroll the buy menu.
Gamespot reviewed the game and gave high ratings, but said the game was tedious as you have to travel all over the map. This is not the case if you properly use the "Bus Stations" located on the map by the symbol of a bus. Also just speeding by an armed outpost was a quick way of getting across the map (speed by only after you first stop and fight and search the base). There were 57 (if I remember correctly)bases to search I did 43, and Over 200 diamonds to find of which I was able to find and get to about 112 (before finishing the game).
I purchased the game at Ebay and it was in excellent condition but without a manual, so much of what I did was by trail and error. On-line you can find walkthroughs with mouse and keyboard layouts, but I found very little about using the Xbox controller.
A great game with or without a manual (after you get through the travel learning curve).
