Finally! The Fantastic Four! Vidio Collection Must Have

Finally! Technology has finally made it possible to present Marvel Comics most trend setting, influential series of all time. The casting is perfect.I'll let others rant about them, and they deserve every golden word. The Fantastic Four, released a short time before Spiderman was the first series that exploded into the dawn of the Silver Age of Comics. These books were not written entirely on a childish level. The charecters had real emotions and PROBLEMS!Ben Grim was never happy about being the lumpy monsterous Thing. How many teens could empathise with the ultimate misfit?
In comic book reality it took Reed a couple of years to develope the Cosmic Energy Generater that sucessfully gave The Thing a glimps, and a choice to be human again. The writers of these screen plays are doing a ,dare I say, fantastic job of picking bits and peices of the best stories and merging them together with original material to update, and stream line the stories to update the relationships and the drama. As with Spiderman, many of the concepts emerging full blown were developed over the 40 or 50 issues of stablising not only the heroes, but the entire cast of villians and technologies that made up their particular reality.By issue 25 I was among those who believed the Fantastic Four were the "Greatest Comic Book In The World". This is the book, more than any other, that artist,co-creater,genius Jack Kirby exploded his, weird, unpridictable, epic imagination fused with an artistic flare as dynamic and original as Frazzeta,or Picasso.
When action took place on city streets and a wall got smashed,Kirby would have bricks, steel, and wire scraps flying in all directions with the combatants in the center of the blast wailing away at each other, oblivious to the terrified citizens scrambling out of harm's way. This was just one panel,or drawing in these books with page after page of impossible actions and ideas. It is said that in the embronic concept meetings when George Lucas was asked "how do you want the spaceshipe to look?"His answer was to spread out a huge stack of comics full of Jack Kirby art."Like this." And so "anything goes" machines hit the movie screens. You couldn't even imagine how they worked. Nobody had time to discuss the matter because these crazy screaming battle things,Tie Fighters, were trying to blow up this junky looking asymetric trash can lid that your team is flying in.Hollywood owes a great debt to Jack Kirby.
Why have I gone on so long about the art,the look, and the writing of the Fantastic Four?Because it was first. In the years to come Marvel, and Jack Kirby in particular, reinvented the comic book. They became epics. I read my first F.F. arround 1961.I met Dr Doom that year.By'68 my circle of comic fans were seriously analising the art and storylines in over 20 titles per month.Just like collectors all over the country. This was serious stuff!By that time Spiderman had joined Superman,Batman,Blackhawk,Captain America,Flash Gordon, and Buck Rogers as big screen stars. We would stare down at book after book. The art and stories were and are too huge for this page.
Knowing enough about film making at that time, we pretty much knew what could only be done as a cartoon too.It was a dissapointing reality. This art was too far out.Every serialised issue more menacing, complex, and amazing than the one before. We would look up to each other and say,"It is too bad they could never make this into a movie."
It is great to be wrong, finally!Nuff said.
