Fancy Nancy's Favorite Fancy Words by Jane O'Connor (2008, Hardcover)

Great book for girls. A friend recommended. Also a series so great to recommend for gifts. This is our first book, but we will be getting more.

Nancy loves fancy things but her family is very plain. She introduces them to fancier foods, clothes, etc. I found this book to be fun and entertaining. My 3.5 yr. old daughter always asks about new and fancy words for things. It seems to be encouraging her vocabulary. While other reviews stae that this bood teaches arrogance, I think it is enjoyable.

I absolutely love this book. I am an early childhood educator and quality books are a must!! After first watching a struggling reader recite another Fancy Nancy book to me, I immediately started looking for one of my own. This is the particular book I bid on and won. It arrived and I am 100% pleased with it. The illustrations, alone, are impeccable!!! I began pondering why perhaps I hadn't been exposed to this writer earlier through these Fancy concoctions. The only thing I can come up with from a professional point of view would be the fact that they are truly centered solely around a "high-minded" little girl thinking most extravagantly. They are precious; however, probably not of much concern to the rough and tumbly little boys. Definitely a good addition to a child's library or any princess of the day.
