Loved this movie! As usual Robert Duvall and James Earl Jones gave fine performances. Lots of varied emotions portrayed. Also insight to prejudice on both the black and the white side.You get a since of what it's like to be a minority "white". Loved that Aunt T ! A serious AND light hearted movie that I definitely recommend. Great movie!!

This is just one great movie! I love James Earl Jones and Robert Duvall, so this was a bonus. The storyline is wonderful and the acting is superb. The family isn't perfect, but totally believable. I highly recommend this one.

A Family Thing is a good film to watch. It shows it is indeed a small world. The movie shows we need to improve in our lives. A blind woman who can see. A young man learns how race can learn from each other without hate. A family learns a big adjustment in their lives. James Earl Jones and Robert Duvall are just great in this movie.

Outstanding, but not well known movie
) This is one of our all time favorite movies. Well written - beautifully acted - great story, well told. Robert Duval and James Earl Jones lead a cast that is outstanding. When it first came out, there was talk of the actress who plays Auntie T getting an academy award. Alas, small movies rarely get that far. Certainly it was the best supporting actress performance of the year. This is about race, and family, and how somehow people find a way to each other, no matter how difficult it may seem.
It is a shame that this wonderful movie got almost no publicity or notice when it was released. But that's no reason not to see it on DVD - you will not be sorry.

This is one of my favorite Robert Duval movies. I have been looking for a DVD of this movie for several years, so I am thrilled to finally have one of my own. I like to buy used or discount movies on eBay because there is always a huge selection and I can usually find the movie I want.
