The Family Stone (DVD, 2006, Full Frame)

I wanted to see this film because the trailers looked so funny. I loved this film, but not really because I thought it was so "funny" but because it is not what you'd expect, it has an underlying sadness while being humorous at the same time and I think you get to see a lot of characters "grow" during the course of the film. I have loaned it to ALL of my friends and so far everyone has really enjoyed it too!

This was so hilarious. The Family will make any family seem sane. They are really messed up, but thats the comedy of it. Don't miss this movie you'll love it. It's not appropriate for kids.

The first time I saw "The Family Stone" I fell in love with the movie. It is a quirky little tale of a close knit family with five adult children who all come home for Christmas. The ensemble cast is great : Diane Keaton does a magnificent job playing the mother, Sybil, who is married to Graig T. Nelson. The movie also stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Luke Wilson, Claire Danes, Dermot Mulroney, and Rachel McAdams. I've said for years that any film that can make me BOTH laugh and cry is a great movie ! It is now a must-see at the Holidays !
I had a hard time finding a full screen version at Blockbuster and other neighborhood rental stores, so went to e-bay to purchase it.

I found this movie very tastefully done. I read the previous reviews and I agree with most of them. The bottom line about this movie is that the mother (Diane Keaton) is the family stone. The youngest daughter(Amy) who in the movie is known as the mean one. Is just like her mother in so many ways. I can go on and on about this movie. But no matter what age you are...I believe every women can relate to this movie. Yes they all had issues and drama. Every family does. But through out the entire movie the are very open with each other about the love this family has. That to me was priceless. "We are not all rich and can leave a "legacy" behind, but nurturing a child and instilling values, morals, respect and religion. Will create a far greater legacy that will live on in them, and there children....." R.Gaddis

I have to say that I was very disappointed with the plot line of the movie. Many things happened that I would think are immoral to do in real life. Overall this movie was not impressive, and I would not reccommend it to anyone.

Really good story line. Wish movie producers didn't think putting tons of swear words into the script makes the movie better - it doesn't. Maybe someday they will make two versions - one with all the swear words and one without. Bet the one w/o would be the better seller.

I really enjoyed this movie. It was fun and easy to relate to since I am a mother and motherinlaw. I love Diane Keatons comedies and she does not let me down in this one. Its a wonderfully crazy insane family but who really care about one another. Not mushy, not overdone. Just reality!

This movie was definitely not what I thought it was going to be. It was advertised as if it were a comedy, which it is DEFINITELY not! However, I absolutely loved the movie and will watch it again and again - will just have to make sure that I have a box of tissues readily available!

I liked this movie. I think the Stone family represented a real typical American family. They are filled with problems, heartache, love, empathy, laughter and joy. I will watch this movie again as soon as I can.

This is one of my favorite holiday movies and I love to watch it all year long. It has an amazing cast who all are worthy of great praise. The movie is one which revolves around a sad story but manages to keep it's hope and fun.

Bought this for my son in law. The whole family watched it together on Christmas day we all enjoyed it. You like some parts and some not so much but has some great laughs and cries.

Great Christmas movie with several good actors/actresses.
It is the story of a close family that makes it impossible for
anyone new to join them. Several funny moments and a few
poignant ones. Great "chick flick" that men seem to like also.

This movie at times may seem extreme, but it is about a real family during the holidays. It has a few sad parts, but it will have you laughing yourself silly. Watch it with your family.

I totally love this movie. It has all great actora and actresses in this movie. And it is the typic family at Christmas. I just like watching it, there are really fummy parts of the movie, along with sad part also.
But it is a great movie, you won't be disappointed.

Love the movie and its real life characters that show a typical family atmosphere. A little dysfunctional, but the lives of this family shows love, attitude, sadness, insecurity, but greatest of all is togetherness when the family finally comes together. All star cast makes this movie a winner! Great acting by Parker, Wilson and Keaton........this one is a keeper!
