Family Guy - Volume 1: Seasons 1 & 2 (2003, DVD)

Seth McFarlane's Family Guy is the funniest show on television - and it has been for years. Its quickly developed a cult following that is stronger and larger than the Simpsons'. The Family Guy aired on Fox in 1999 immediately following the Super Bowl and received wild attention - though not positive - among the media for its raunchiness and controversial material. After Fox's cancellation in 2002, the Family Guy Season 1 was released on DVD in 2003 and has been wildly successful since. Two years later, the Family Guy DVD is still in high demand on eBay (where it can be purchased for a fraction of the $49.99 retail price) and its still in the top 100 list on Amazon.com. The Family Guy Season 1 DVD was so successful, a subsequent DVD was released and the show was re-picked up on Fox and currently airs on Sunday Nights.

The Family Guy follows the Griffins who live in Quahog, Rhode Island and appear to be a normal suburban family. The specific Griffins are each unique: The father Peter Griffin is fat, lazy, raunchy and a simpleton (think Homer Simpson). Daughter Meg Griffin is a homely, unsophisticated 15-year old. Chris Griffin is a 13-year old version of his father. Baby Stewie is a sophisticated big-thinker with plans to overtake the world - the only problem is that only his dog Brian can hear him. Brian on the other hand drinks martinis, dates women, and reeks of sarcasm.

The true humor within Family Guy is the writing. Seth McFarlane has a knack for social commentary and sarcasm - attacking anything relevant to current events, pop culture, or the likes... and he does so in on-the-border / is-it-offensive? manners. If you can make it through a single episode without laughing aloud - you must not have a funny bone in the body!

I love the witty humor of these shows. I loved it when it was on TV, and it is an overall classic. I can't wait to own all the seasons. Buying on ebay was the smartest thing, they retail at $40/volume in stores!!

I lost this season and i had to get it again. It was a great deal exactly as described. would do business with again.

What's not to like, I saw them on TV when it first aired and I videotaped each episode. Then when it hit DVD, I bought every season.

Great refreshing show, not for everyone though! I think that is you like reality in animation this is the show to get, but not for children so beware!

This show is not for the pure of heart. But it is pretty darn funny. You will laugh and laugh. If you are not careful...Stewie will kill you.

It's Family Guy... come on. You can't get any better than that. Nothing wrong with this at all. Would highly recommend it to anyone looking to "laugh and cry".

I bought Family Guy Vol. 1 A few weeks ago and Im glad i did. It is the start of one of the best tv shows on tv today. Seasons one and two show some of the most rude and crude humor that i love to watch. If you watch alot of tv shows and movies than you will get most of the jokes that go on in this volume. Long live Family Guy!!

I won a bid on a set of Family Guy DVDs. They were shipped quickly and came in very very good condition. The only difference between these and new is I didnt buy a much as I would have in a store and no plastic wrap on the outside. Other than that they are in like new condidtion no scratches or marks of any kind on any of the DVD excellent purchase

This DVD set contains Season 1 and 2 of Family Guy. Family Guy is quite possibly the funniest show ever!

I work evenings so I rarely get to see sitcoms. My son told me about family guy and we watched it one night. I immediately became a fan. What a family. A genius baby and a alcoholic dog that talks and is given human responsibility. The show seemed to pull a little crumb from almost every sitcom about families that I have ever seen. I really enjoy laughing and waiting for the next shocking incident.

If you love friends, you will love this dvd set. this is where it all begun. this dvd collection of the first 2 seasons of friends will keep the memory of this great series alive forever.

my son whated it for christmas. He love watching on tv has not seen some of the show at the beginning of the season. No reason dislike the dvd his friend and him watches them all the time

Great show, but its more directed towards the mid-teens and up (pre-teens are pushing it). Remember context and content in this show is the key, a lot of adult jokes are made, but is great (if your an adult and understand the jokes).

Compared to more recent seasons, this one is much less intense and more on the safe side. I wanted to complete my collection of the series.
