This is a great primer on family therapy. It applies to both beginning family therapists as well as lay people who are just interested in the process.

This book was not only informative but entertaining. I had to read it for a graduate class and I found it extremely useful in applying concepts that I was learning about in Family Therapy. It is a good book to read for recreation, self help, as a catalyst for personal growth or for academic purposes. I highy recommend it!

  Great book

This book was a great read. It is a great introduction to the field of family therapy. Some of the techniques used are a little outdated but for the most part, it gives you pretty clear picture of family dynamics and the anatomy of a disturbed family. The case format is an excellent and compelling way to illustrate family therapy concepts. I was left feeling like I had a pretty clear understanding of why the therapist did what they did (even though I didn't agree with some things) and why the family reacted as they did. If you are interested in this field, this a great introduction to it and an overall must read!

Find Your Family in This Book
Review created: 07/02/06

The Family Crucible offers an armchair adventure in finding your place in your family and the places siblings and parents held as you were growing up. Do you still have that label? Can you change your label? Why do people feel more comfortable if you are living up to your label? Find the answers to these questions and much more information in the armchair psychology book. I like it because I read it in my 40's and have read it again in my 60's...some things have changed!
