Synopsis Davy Dempsey is, to put it mildly, a con artist. When he breaks into an old girlfriend's place to steal some cash, he encounters the woman who may be his soul mate: Tilda Goodnight, a painter who is there to steal back one of her embarrassing early works. As Davy gets involved with not only Tilda but her charmingly eccentric family, he finds himself in the midst of a bigger, crazier scam than he ever bargained for. And all this happens in Columbus, Ohio!

Publisher's Note Matilda Goodnight and Davy Dempsy are both trying to get the upper hand with the gorgeous gold-digging Clea Lewis, but they will forge a temporary if reluctant alliance to take on an inept art collector, a disgruntled heir, an exasperated hitmat, and a seductive femme fatale as they deal with false identities, forged paintings, swindles, and love.
Industry Reviews "A raunchy, romantic comedy....Crusie avoids the pitfall of portraying [her characters] as too impossibly cute or sweet: the sense of real human frailty in all her characters makes even the villains oddly endearing....Perfect escapist fare...." Kirkus Reviews (06/15/2002)
