Max Lucado is known for his faith encouraging books. In this book he studies King David. What Mr. Lucado is telling us is a simple lesson. When you focus on God, your giants will fall. He tells stories from first and second Samuel, both good and bad, to show us how this all played out in David's life. David's life gives us a lesson in each chapter so we can see how one event led to another. The story follows David fighting Goliath, then hiding from Saul to his friendship with Jonathan to hiding from his enemy. It goes on to show David keeping his promises, his adultery and murder with Bathsheba to seeing his own children out of control with their lives. Mr. Lucado points out that we need to focus on God to help us in everyday things. To cherish family and our true friends. This is not a new message, but we all tend to forget why we are here on earth. Look around and you will see the turmoil and stress surrounding each of us due to personal strife. You are not alone. Mr. Lucado's book shows us how to face those giants that block our path. It is a reminder that faith and prayer can work wonders where all else fails.
I was sad to come to the end of this book. It lifted my spirit high and gave me new hope. I highly recommend it to those who need some help with their "giants."
