Face the Promise by Bob Seger (CD, Sep-2006, Capitol/EMI Records)

JUST AWESOME, HE IS STILL THE KING. HAVE NEVER BEEN DISAPPOINTED SO FAR. ALL BUT ONE SONG WRITTEN BY HIM, JUST SHOWS HOW HE IS SO VERY TALENTED

After reading the review on Allmusic Guide I became curious and bought Bob Seger's new album, Face The Promise, right away. Seger is an old favourite of mine, but his previous albums have been a bit disappointing. After having listened through the 12 new songs I can definitely proclaim that the old master rocker is back on the track. Face The Promise matches his best albums from the period before 1982. Starting with the rocker Wreck This Heart followed by the melodic ballad Wait For Me, he sets the standard for what I will rate as one of the top 3 rock albums of 2006. Seger is not a youngster anymore, and I think the lyrics show this in a positive way. The thoughts he shares with his listeners and fans is a result of a man who has experienced life with all its nuances of ups and downs. And the underlying feeling through the album can be summed up in the title track, Face The Promise. Seger has hope for the future, a hope we all need to hold on to in this day and time with so many families splitting up and big crises all over the world. I must also mention the duet he sings with Kid Rock, Real Mean Bottle, which is also a highlight of the album.

What's not to like? ....Bob's back, writing his own stuff and showing us why he's a rock legend. Have much Seger music in 8-track, LP, cassette and CD and if a new one comes out, I'll have it. First concert I ever went to was Bob Seger(1976), with Elvin Bishop, Point Blank(who?) and someone else -all that for the ticket price of $7.50 and I bought 2 Seger T-shirts for $4.00 ea.(still have one!). Life was good. As for the music...Seger still knows how to rock. I'll be looking for him riding his bike around Devil's Lake this summer....would love to ride, hear stories of the road and his music with this Michigan native. Come back anytime Bob!

If you like the classic Bob Seger and the Silver Bullett albums, chances are you'll like this one as well. Of course you'll never hear any of this on the radio, but that doesn't diminish the recognizeable sound and quality that this album contains. I was skeptical when I purchased the disc never having heard it, and was quite pleased with the music. I guess I still do like Old Time Rock 'n Roll, even if it's Still The Same...

its the BOB SEGER I remember...want a great CD to listen to around a campfire?..this is the one to buy...I was fortunate to be able to live and enjoy his music...my ERA had very talented musicians and BOB SEGER was one of those Musicians :)

Bob seger continues his legacy with this awesome cd i love every song also joining him is kid rock and patty loveless this cd is a must have for any serious mussic collecter

We've waited 12 yrs for this and it doesn't disappoint. All tunes are normal reflections for Bob and his songwriting has even improved. His voice is as good as you would expect and priceless with the help of Patty Loveless (my favorite singer) and Kid Rock (considers Bob his mentor). I can't wait for the next one.

The man just keeps on "Truck'n"!!!!! His voice is better than ever and his writting is awesome. All the songs are super with a lot of heart and emotion. They have you move'n to the beat that is continuous through out the album. Loved the whole thing.!!!!

I "discovered" Bob Seger in 1979; own every CD Seger has produced and seen him in concert six times. If Seger had promoted his career like Springsteen (not being critical, Bruce is a favorite), he could have reached the heights of Dylan in the music world. I am not a fan of Bob Dylan.

"Face The Promise" is probably his last CD of new material but falls short of his top albums. However, it compares very well with "Like a Rock", "The Distance" and "Fire Inside".

I love the music! Bob Seger is a legend. I decided to buy it because i had heard it on the radio. What i dislike about my purchase is the CD had a hole drilled thru the case and it was labeled "Not for sale, this is a demo CD"

The CD was received just as advertised. No scratches, skips, etc. I would not hesitate from buying other items from this seller.

Bob wrote all but one song this CD. How often do you see that.. A true legend in his field. At this stage in his career he is still better than 90% of the crap bands and singers that are out there now. The CD kicks ass.

Listen to the lyrics, revel in the beat, soak in the melody. This is the kind of music you get when the musicians know how to play their instruments.

Have been a big fan of Bob since high school. His songs bring me back to a time when I didnt have a care in the world. This new CD helps me to loosen up and forget avout the problems that latch on and try to drag me down. Once again Bob has worked his majic and created an instant classic.
