Info and repair tips plus interesting history.

This is a great reference that will help me complete my repair/restoration of a 1949 player. I have the original factory service manuals for the RP-168 and RP-190 series. The detailed tips in Phil Vourtsis assure me that I will properly service my second run RP-168 mechanism on my first try. I've found a replacement idler, decent proper-fit ceramic stereo cartridge and even tubular filter capacitors to wire in to replace the defunct original can.
I've been buying new 45 RPM records since the early 1950s and virtually all of them are in NM condition. Recently I've gone to eBay to fill in some gaps and procure examples of very early 45s plus fill in a few holes in my library and these range from NM to G. Yay, I now even have quite a few of the "notch" 45s that I suspected were VERY early examples.
This book is just the ticket for my latest electronic project. The little player is slated for two "show" appointments; 1) Playing vintage 1949-1958 Christmas 45s at a dog club Christmas party early next month and 2) Serving as a 45 RPM system 60th anniversary "star" along with a colorful assortment of early 45's at my radio club meeting next March.
Overall I'm VERY pleased with the book and find it well worth its price but I wish it contained more historical information on additional equipment.
