Fiona is back and with her best CD YET!

This cd came out of left field and knocked me completely off of my feet. I guess I was expecting another WHEN THE PAWN, but from the very first notes of EXTRAORDINARY MACHINE, I knew this was a completely different, and very special album.
The title track reminds me of a Diana Krall jazz number. In fact a lot of the tracks have a very piano driven jazzy feel to them, with very interesting and thoughtfully included instrumentaion that isn't typically associated with "popular" albums. Marimba's, horns of all kinds, and I even some strings sneaking in from time to time.
Look, I've only owned this album for a day now, but it's already become one of my favorite's. I'm loving exploring the lyrics, listening to Fiona's captivating voice, discovering the nuances of the instrumentation and rhythms.....I am enchanted.
Boo-hiss to the record label that held on to this jem for so long. When are they going to learn that it's the differences that make the music challenging, and that we enjoy? IMHO, the industry would be much stronger if we had more innovators like Fiona Apple creating art like this album! The song PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE say's it all - "Give us something familiar; something similar to what we know already. That will keep us steady, steady going NOWHERE!"

This album seems happier than her previous albums, which isn’t a bad thing, but not what I was expecting. Still, I was in eager anticipation of the album and was not disappointed. I love it.

Fiona Apple CDGreat CD !Bought for my girlfriend and she is well pleased with it! Fiona Apple has a unique style to her music and captivating voice.I found myself listening to the lyrics and could relate to some of the songs she was singing.Everyone needs this CD in their music library !

) Fiona Apple is an incredible lyricist. Her metaphors really suck you in. They always have for me at least. She throws in some clever humor here and ther. This album was very well written, and easy to relate to. Im telling you, this should be made into a musical!

Fiona Apple's 3rd album, "Extraordinary Machine" is lacking in nothing. It's the culmination of many years of hard work and creative magnificence, plus the maturity and self-confidence that Apple has developed over the years after her debut album, "Tidal."
To say that Fiona Apple is a non-commercial artist is an understatement. Most of her songs require a true involvement on the part of her listeners - especially the ones on "Extraordinary Machine." It's not an easy listen at first, but, like any significantly good thing, constant exposure to her sometimes hard-to-find melodies will only result in complete satisfaction and intellectual stimulation.
If you're going to purchase this album, make sure you get the DualDisc version, where you can check out Apple & producer/musician Jon Brion giving an intimate performance of her new songs. You don't want to miss it!

I have always liked Fiona Apple and this album could be her best so far. It had been a while since I had listened to her and then I saw her on Iconoclasts on IFC TV with Quentin Tarantino which inspired me to buy her latest album. Very similar in many ways to her other albums, but at the same time, something new.I had high expectations because I liked her other albums so much and this one did not disappoint. A lot of artists I have liked in the past starting putting out garbage, but that is not the case with Fiona Apple. She takes her time and it shows in her work.

I loved the hard edge jazzy sound on this album.
I am typically strictly a jazz fan ,but when I heard the tiltle song I was hooked!
Her work is different and has a great sound . i like to put this on when i am in a man hating mood LOL. Sorry Guys.
