Packed with great information, somewhat dry

Although Dr. Wile does a good job packing a lot of information into this textbook, many sections are dry and difficult to get through. He also requires a lot of memorization of cold hard facts, which is sometimes difficult.

One nice feature is that it is broken down into two-week modules, making it a little easier to get through.

He is also very true to the Creation account in Genesis.

  Super textbook

I am a big fan of Apologia science books. They offer a lot of facts without the "fluff" you find in so many science textbooks. Textbooks these days are published with so much "busy-ness" and "color" flowing off the pages--I honestly don't see how students can concentrate on the material with so much unnecessary stuff to compete for their attention. The Apologia series is no-frills, plain text, and one I find enjoyable and easy to understand. I bought this book to use at our Christian school--my hope is that our Textbook Committee will adopt it for the classroom. The authors did a super job getting the important facts into the textbook, including giving definitive reasoning why Darwin's theory is all wrong, as well as convincing explanation of how the earth can only be as old as it is. One big advantage for our school--as seen in Cathy Duffy's reviews, it is amenable to both Protestants and Catholics, for whom our school serves.

I have used this text for 3 students at at home and find it to be very adequate. My children have learned well and tested well in this area on SATs as well. I am a fan of the Apologia texts for home schools. I have also used the higher sciences as part of a Co-op. www.donnayoung.org provides excellent schedules of teaching for the year for almost every Apologia Science subject.

Great Biology book from a Creationist point of view.

I have used the two previous Apologia Courses, General Science and Physical Science. Biology is the course my child is really looking forward to studying. I have looked through the book and it looks as excellent as the others. Highly recommended by my homeschool family.

  great choice

This book contains a balanced presentation of biology. It is very user friendly. Given several options, each of my three children have preferred Apologia science curriculum over all others we've tried. In addition, it is non-consumable; you can pass it down from child to child, or resell it on eBay when you're finished.

  Excellent course
Review created: 07/08/07

Excellent Course w/ 16 modules..Scientific method laid out and used. Experiments will take some investment but much is of minimal cost. My son is 13 he covered Wiles General science and this course scored POST HIGH SCHOOL on the Stanford Achievement in Science...(now this did not surprise me and one reason why we homeschool, I dont feel public schools even teach science any longer and this personal experiment strengthens my convictions) he completely blew out every secular science question that Stanford could throw out. (Note I never taught him secular science...besides Apologia) Now this shows a balance of Apologia that they are not afraid to give both sides and use experiments to show which truly is based on what science is supposed to be based on (observation and scientific method). I recently attended my own personal course at university of texas geology program...I have to say my son is far more prepared than 99% of the children who were sitting next to me in that lab. Secular science is now so dumbed down that parents are doing a disservice to their children when they dont use courses like this to lay out logical thinking ,scientific testing and observations to come to conclusions. Our children in this country simply have no idea how to think...but get this course.. your kid will be going deep and will be amply prepared to excel in any college program you put them in!

I had researched the curriculum and knew it was a good program for my daugther.
The test and solution book came with it as well as some slide to look at.
I am very happy with the program so far.

  Exploring Creation with Science
Review created: 10/06/06

We were given a reccomondation for this book so I have been looking for a while before we found it at the right price on Ebay. I really like that it approaches science from a Faith Base and gives scientifical data to the creation theory. It fills my childs mind with scripture as he is learning and doing science experiments. The only scary part is the intestity and amount of work involved for the student. To complete this in one year My son has to accomplish a bit of science each school day. Otherwise he gets behind and we will be schooling over the summer. I like the curriculum and will continue on in the series as it affirms his Faith and gives us some accountability to keep up and not slack off.
