Expelled is a documentary hosted by actor Ben Stein. The documentary covers the topic of "Intelligent Design" - the theory that the final/ultimate answer could be a "founder or designer of the universe". Notice that this definition does NOT contain the word "creationism" or "creator" or "God". Many negative reviews for this movie are saying that it's about creationism - when in fact; it's not.
One point the movie tries to make is that if teaching or studying "Intelligent Design" is creationism or leads to creationism, then evolution certainly is atheism or leads to being atheist. They specifically ask top evolutionary biologists and each one of them say they are atheist and each one of them are strong against religion as a whole.
The premise the movie bases much of its debate on - evolution theory has a lot of holes in it. To explain the origins of life through evolution would be like winning the million dollar jackpot in the lottery every day for thousands of years!
It's easy to see why atheists and your typical "creationism sucks" crowd wants to give this movie a bad review - they don't want you to see it! The infamous Richard Dawkins (who caused a controversy at the premiere) is interviewed in the movie and makes a fool of himself. He's given quite a bit of screen time and a lot of chance to clarify and be satisfied with his position for his theory - yet he comes off looking like a complete idiot. If he would have been in a debate - he'd have easily lost even though it might seem he'd have won because of his incredible intelligence, vocabulary, and education.
One thing I was surprised that the movie didn't include was theory of Occam's Razor - that the simplest answer is usually the correct one. Many scientists often use this theory to help explain things.
The movie makes the point that Hitler used "evolution" (and specifically the studies of Charles Darwin) to justify the extermination of the Jews. It also illustrates how absurd some of the top evolutionary biologists are when explaining the beginnings of the universe and of life as we know it. One professor said that we evolved from a crystal that hit the earth a long time ago - because isn't it interesting how life mimics a crystal pattern. That still doesn't exclude an "Intelligent Design" and still doesn't explain what (or who) made that crystal. Richard Dawkins, towards the end makes an insane circular logic argument that aliens brought life to this planet - basically saying everything BUT saying "Intelligent Design".
If you have ever wanted a clear dialogue about atheism and its affects on society or wanted to see some solid information in support of "Intelligent Design" - this movie is a good, well thought out, and entertaining and compelling resource.
As with the Creation Museum in Kentucky ... I doubt I would have even heard of this movie without an atheist pointing out that it was a bad movie (or getting a laugh out of someone giving it a bad review).

In what I believe is Ben Stein's greatest work, this docu-drama shows the problem of science only allowing past theories to be used as science. How Darwins evolution theory is impossible and outdated. How evolution has really become a religion more than a science and the direction that the evolutionary worldview eventualy leads it's followers.

Oh My Gosh. We watch it twice and talked about it for days. This movie opens your eyes and makes you look at everything differently. I absolutely loved Ben Stein in this DVD. His monotone presentation could not have been more perfect for this documentary style shockfest. Because he maintained a certain neutrality throught, his emotional presentation of the German hospital camp was riveting. Unless you are happy with your head in the sand, I recommend this movie. Be prepared to be affected afterwards.

Ben did a great job and allowing the viewer to see both sides of the discourse. What was truly enlightening about this topic was the lack of allowance for constructive debate and dialogue within the academic community. It scares me to think that those who dare to tread on what's perceived to be the definitive answer to the age old question of how live began on earth are so quickly disregarded as kooks, uneducated morons or religious wackos. Where's the "tolerence" in the academic community for free of expression and the opportunity to learn without being dismissed and ridiculed? Excellent job Ben! This is definately going to be passed around to every and anyone I know!

Great work by Ben Stein on this documentary/ film. He does a wonderful job of seeking out true scientist who have raised the question about Intelligent Design, and have suffered the consequence of seeking the truth based off of the best scientific data. By interviewing scientists from both sides of the argument, he has also revealed the arrogance of those who claim authority based off of hypothesis about the origins of life. Ben Stein also looks at the ramifications from Darwinism from world history to present day with very chilling revelation.

I respect Ben Stein, so I wanted to see what he had to say. I liked that there were many scientists interviewed, who were allowed to ramble on about their rationale for their beliefs, rather than being cut short by the interviewer to provide quick "sound bites".
Besides being a good exploration of Intelligent Design (and those who hate it), it brought to light a very disturbing trend in universities, which is the building of walls against and punishment of those who question the status quo (which is ironic, since universities are supposed to open our minds to enquiry, examination, and truth). More than one respected scientist has been blackballed after giving the slightest credence to aspects of Intelligent Design theory.
This is a sobering documentary interspersed with comical flashes of insight. My respect for Ben Stein has increased. I see him as someone who has experienced history, now trying to say something to a newer generation that only knows today. And as we know, history tends to repeat itself. The trick is to know history and be able to recognize its patterns in the present.

This is a great movie for anyone who is brave enough to hear the other side of the evolution debate...especially since the other side isn't allowed in the schools at any level. You'll be surprised at the evidence for intelligent design that is understood by many top-notch scientists, and shocked that the academic freedom of these same experts is being denied. Science is supposed to be about facts and debate, but not so when it comes to evolution. Based on evidence found in molecular biology, Darwin himself would admit that his theory couldn't be true. It makes you wonder what evolutionists are so afraid of?

This is Bens attempt to humorously shame philosophical science. Yet the humor is very pointed. Why is creation philosophy afraid of another opinion? Dawkins, on film, admits we could be the products of an alien culture who themselves would have evolved. To hear him admit that to Ben Stein, on film, is worth the price alone.

The great debate between intelligent design and evolution. What shocks me is that I have seen this myself at university of Arkansas many years ago. The same biasness the same bullying. It is amazing. I have been wondering if it has been getting any better, in the field of education on the narrow mindedness of it all, I guess not. Since breakthroughs in technology, like in the past 10 to 15 years, there has been more evidence leaning towards the intelligent design theory than the evolutionary theory. This is the first DVD I have seen that covers this issue well. It is highly discussed in the intellectual field but not highly read by the masses. This summarizes what I have read lately. I highly recommend reading more on the intelligent design theory. There are some mind-blowing facts that have been uncovered recently. If you can find computerized representations on some of these finds in science, it would just shock you. Nature, biological structures, etc are just so highly complex. With the evidence, I just believe it had to be designed by intelligent beings. Anyone with a half a brain would conclude that also. This is just one more leap for the Renovator historians and writers. These people write the truth that disintegrates the norm of Marxist and darwinists propaganda instilled in our education institutions and mass media outlets.
One beef I have is that I understand the evolutionist’s connection with Nazism. However, B. Stein makes no real mention of the close connection with the communists; it is only implied. It must be remembered that the Communists have murdered several million more civilians than the Nazis and have justified it in their minds too. This was to due to their understanding of Humankind's place in the worldview of the communist’s utopian state of mind. Remember Marxists (and communists) are one of two types of people: atheists or God-haters. That is it.
Check out the last part of Stein vs. Dawkins. Dawkins Would believe in the I.D. theory … if it were assumed an alien started life on this earth. But he would not believe in the I.D. theory if it were assumed that a Deity started life on earth. Check Out Ben Steins “LOOK” he gives him after his statement. Like , “What a Freakin DumbArse!” And to those racists people out there, this documentary was done by a Jew. Many people are down on Jews, but not all or most are bad by any means.

I had seen this DVD and wanted my own copy to watch again. Excellent movie. This documentary get you thinking about the Intelligent Design vs. Evolution by natural selection debate. It will show how people have been discriminated against just because they hold a different view and the need for the free and open exchange of ideas. It shows the bias and the power wheedled by Neo-Darwinists and their desperate attempts to defend a failed theory. This movie also shows that what you belief matters and there are consequences to holding a particular worldview and that those that hold to atheism still can't get away from "faith". I would recommend this movie to any to watch except maybe small children that may not understand all the issues that are being discussed.

I was so surprised by the information on this DVD! It goes to show how one-sided our educational system is. We think it is all about free thinking, and giving all ideas equal time. This proves that is WRONG.
Excellent documentation, easy to follow, very funny is some spots while being scary true in others. Worth your time, especially if you have children headed for higher education.

It was so refreshing to see the truth put out there. Ben does not inject his feelings (when does he ever), or his beliefs about the origin of life. He simply asked good questions and gave both sides a chance to explain. No bias! GOOD MOVIE.

This is a fine movie that asks a simple question, why can't we discuss intelligent design in a scientific format? Perhaps Darwin was wrong when he put up the notion that everything came from nothing. I always thought that science was fair no matter what the cost.The answer is the answer, no right no wrong just the truth. We can't find the answer if we don't ask all the questions openly without the fear of punishment.

Ben Stein confronts the ignorance in our current college system. At a time when the world needs something to believe in, colleges continue to brainwash young people into believing that their way is the only way, which is liberal and a path to socialism.

i love this movie . it was very interesting. the interview with Richard Dawkins was very good. i feel sorry for Richard that he feels the way he does about God. he says he does not believe in God but he gets angry and calls God many awful names while claiming not to believe in him. that does not sound very intelligent to me.

I really enjoy watching the exposure of the hypocrisy in the scientific realm regarding the debate of whether or not it was Intelligent Design that designed and created the universe. I am not a scientist, but from my observation of life around me, and with my understanding of the Bible, it is clear to me that there is a Creator, benevolent and loving! This movie, "No Intelligence Allowed" was actually faith strengthening.
The movie highlights the idiocy of intelligent scientists, refusing to see beyond the theory of evolution, and their persecution of those among their ranks, who can plainly see a universe created by Intelligent Design.
I recommend it highly!

This is a fantastic expose on the state of the educational system in the USA crippled by small minded ideologues that seek to perpetuate their culture of ignorance, political correctness, and mind control over the masses. This is the thinking persons movie unlike the garbage Michael Moore pawns off as fact mixed with fiction. You decide if there isn't some type of agenda to make others to conform to outdated propaganda...

We were curious as to why evolutions believed what they do. I still don't know after Ben Stein interviewed several well known Darwinists. How was the original cell created? Why can't the elusive process be replicated???

I bought this movie to use as a discussion tool for all the hype about evolution being taught in school. The film blows wide open the cracks in the THEORY of evolution and the truth that it takes more faith to believe in evolution than intelligent design. It is a must see. A major insight into the truth about those who want to stop debate about the earths origins.
