The Exorcism of Emily Rose (DVD, 2005, Special Edition, Rated)

When my husband first told me we were going to be watching this movie, I thought "oh great another exorcism type movie". But that was not the case. It's a courtroom drama with flashbacks of the account of the exorcism itself. It was a little disturbing at times, but it was the best movies I have seen in a long time.

Well in my opinion, amongst all of horror Movies, I find Religious ones (The Exorsist,The Order,Constantine, this) to have more of a frightening effect compared to Monsters/Creatures. One that's based on a true story, even better. Because then you really wonder (If you believe).
While everyone is comparing This to the exorsist, I find them both equally well done. But were talking about Emily Roses' Exorsism. I bought this and another movie together, yet I wanted to watch this first. I didn't want any nightmares.
It did the job of making me turn on all the lights to bathroom and make my finace come with me.
In my opinion the movie is worth buying. I didn't mind spending top dollar for it. I will be watching it again soon. Read other reviews, and see what you think. If you like these type of movies, you'll probably end up buying it anyway somewhere down the road.

Great acting, some suspenseful moments... it also satisfied two genres: those who like a good courtroom movie, and those who like horror movies. The horror itself was more heard than seen...your imagination had to fill in most of it. The cast all did an excellent job tho....

This is one of the scariest films of my time. Scarier than the Exorcist. The fact that it's based on a true story makes it even better. Enjoy it and don't watch it alone.

its a good movie don't get me worng but to buy it i bet you'll neve watch it again. kinda slow and boring then breaks into load sceens ect. kinda keept me bored then got good then got boring and so on. save a few bucks rent it.

Riveting, spellbinding and shocking. All the traits for a well made movie. Gives a pause for considering good and evil and the powers therein.

I thought it would be scary as I saw the trailer and it was just horrible. I didn't want to watch it at first. But when the DVD was on SALE, I bought it and watched it during the day.
And again, the story is excellent, unpredictable, and WOW. Great effects.
Definitely worth watching!

This is a excellent movie! I think this movie is not suppost to be scary but have more of a Religious meaning! 5/5 Stars! A MUST SEE!!!! A+

its an amazing film and just had to own it, i dont know how i waited so long to get it, very, very, good movie

If you like being scared then this is the movie for you. I mean, let's face it Possession sucks, but that doesn't mean it can't make a good movie or amusement park ride,(hint, hint). If you watch it alone you'll have trouble going to sleep. Awesome.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose has been a movie we have been wanting to see for some time. After watching it, we would say it is a "decent" film, while being much different than expected.

The film is based on the trial of a Priest in regards to the Exorcism of Emily Rose, with a courtroom filled with those of modern day beliefs that have no knowledge of true-life exorcist cases. Much of the movie takes place in a Federal courtroom, except when theyre describing what happened. The movie is inspired/based on a true event.

It should keep your interests most of the way through, but it can seem to get somewhat dry at times, and it is a fairly long movie(over 2 hrs). It will keep you guessing(and hoping), and offers an unexpected ending with a surprising twist. Not your "typical" exorcism film.

EBERT and ROEPER gave it Two Thumbs Up.

If youre looking for scary or gory, this may not be a movie for you, as it lacks both.


Overall, its a decent/good movie.

Rent It or Buy It? Depending on your likings of horror films(its not horror-filled), you may want to rent it first. We're somewhat happy we bought it and would watch it again, but it wouldnt be ranked anywhere near a favorite film.
